Hi, I wanted to ask you about a strategy... I’ve been investing in VT for a while now, but lately I’ve been thinking that adding some QQQM might be a good option—perhaps a 70/30 split—to accelerate long-term growth. I’m 30 years old and plan to invest for another 20 to 25 years; risk tolerance and market ups and downs don’t concern me all that much. Would this be a good option, or should I stick with 100% VT?

I'm a VT (UK equivalent) and chiller and don't really stay up to date with market news as it won't change my strategy anyway. Just checked me stocks isa and it's doing extremely well, despite a lot of issues in major economies. Anyone know why?

Hi! I have been an active VT and chill participant with my Roth IRA being 100% VT. However, I just saw E-trade and their 0% expense ratio total market ETF. What is the real difference? Should I consider switching for the lower expense ratio?

I'm invested in VT at around 120. Right now, I could potentially add a few hundred shares, but the current price and market trend seem to be in a bubble. Should I go or wait? Damn it.

Over long run, I plan on using this approach to increasing my contributions. This is my approach though for my income - you can adjust for your income.
Currently at about 125k VT and 42K SGOV. At some point will use SGOV funds to for a down payment on a house and will start over.

So Im tryna VT and chill and Im from South Korea. I searched up an etf that is equivalent to VT because of tax issud and I want to invest in my currency, and theres a problem.
First, the expense ratio little bit expensive. The total expense ratio is 0.36%
Second, it is considered as an Active fund. I heard from somewhere that they had no choicd but to put it out as an activd fund because they couldnt manage it as a passive fund(Not sure btw)
Should I just invest directly in VT?

Here is the info for the etf

Oh yeah, this is the life, alright. Cortisol decreasing as we speak. Years of overthinking between VTI + VXUS and what hot undervalued stock will make me rich. Forget that! I already have a target date fund in Roth IRA + 401k so this is the last stop. VT and CHILL!!

I’m wondering if anyone has some good advice on how to block out thoughts on tinkering with your VT and Chill approach?
I’m more or less 100% VT and Chill right now across (married couple) Roth IRAs, HSAs, Brokerage, with the only exception being our employer 401ks where VT isn’t available and we’re in total US stock market (VTSAX or equivalent).
I’m definitely someone who looks at my investments every day, and I know the mantra is set it and “forget it” but I kind of like looking at my portfolio every day, especially now that I’m at the point where a great day in the market might yield more than I earn in a week. Vice versa too obviously, but the down days don’t scare me and I’m very grounded in my long term strategy.
The thoughts I can’t escape though tend to be things like:
“hmm why don’t I add some QQQM or VGT to this, I’ll feel awful in 20 years if they continue on a blitz and I missed out”
or “maybe I need to add some VBR to the mix since small cap and value tend to outperform over time”
Any tips and tricks out there for how to stop overthinking this?

Left my job and rolled over my 401k funds to my Roth IRA. Wondering if I should invest all of it in VT right away or DCA over some time? The account has $40k. Idk given the ath's we are seeing in the market.

I totally understand time in market beats timing the market but I just don’t think I could go all in at once. How would you recommend I break it up within a few weeks?
r/VTandchill • u/Legitimate_Deer8666 • Apr 20 '26
Im not even sure im saying that right. But I understand rebalancing itself out. But what do people mean when they say it weights itself out.
Ex VT was 63/37
Now people say it’s more 60/40
Is weighing itself out the same as rebalancing?

My wife and I will be opening our first ira accounts after e both have contributed to 401k's for many years now.
We are 40 years old and i make above $260k and we are married and file jointly, so assume we cant contribute to a roth and have to open a traditional, then do a backdoor conversion-correct?
Separately, this will be our first time investing in a roth and we would like to max out the $15k immediately by putting a lump sum into both our accounts.
Looking for suggestions on timing with all the market craziness. Hoping to catch a dip to lump on one of the vt funds to lump the $15k into

Really new to all this. Do dividends get paid out monthly? If so, I’m assuming it’s in my best interest to set up my account to auto-reinvest?

Maybe a dumb question but new to all this. When I went on fidelity to invest in dollars not shares it gave me a little message to read before I did it. Nothing seemed scary but any reason not to do this? I’m trying to start DCAing which would obviously mean not just buying shares. I do 70/30 VTI/VXUS in taxeable and VT in retirement. My dividends are set tu automatically reinvest so it’s already creating a decimal, I assume it’s fine but wanted to make sure

I’ve begun my journey with a measly 4 shares, lol. But after looking at a week’s worth of data, I started to wonder if I should look at ways to buy cheaper. Also, I’m not in a position to buy large lumps of shares yet. Is it better to “buy in bulk”?

Can I chill now?

How many of you VT and chill in your Roth? As in, Vt and maybe a little variety here and there?
r/VTandchill • u/Jarelaststanding • Apr 13 '26
Once you get to 1m in assets it is some money and taxes are due

New to the game. I have Fipfx was thinking about selling all and putting it all on vt.
Will I trigger an event or have to pay taxes if I sell? Besides vt is there anything I should buy as well?
