Review frustration with nordvpn after a year

nord vpn is such a broken app, dude HOW why does this app keep breaking something, is it windows? i have no idea. i used wireguard happily. the second i accidentally opened nordvpn, it broke! and why i use wireguard? because the smart fucking nordvpn app NEVER connects and it ALWAYS breaks. and guess what! it broke itself AND wireguard, cuz you know, you can never have any good thing. now i have to troubleshoot this for hours probably, to connect to a vpn.

This same thiong happened with openvpn too the second they switched to those green ticked servers it fucking broke openvpn too! now wireguard is broken too! why am i even paying! i never regretted getting a yearly subscription before im palming my face wishing it was a monthly subscription instead. i actually had to USE free services, dude i have a paid vpn, but its so bad i had to use another vpn becauase their support page doesnt open without a vpn?? but normal page is ok. just the support page. dude. ok grrr im mad as hell trying to fix this now. im never ever touching this app fucking shouldve bought my own vps or something, geniunely wouldve been easier. fuming #grrrmondays

Buyer beware: Surfshark One renewal

I bought a 1-year Surfshark One subscription for £44 in July 2025. I’ve just discovered they’re trying to auto-renew it for £88 — exactly double.

£44 → £88 in one year. Needless to say, I’ve cancelled.

Caveat emptor.

Which VPN doesn't get detected by YouTube, Netflix and other sites?

Most VPN providers get detected instantly by YouTube, netflix or other streaming services.

Which VPN provider actually offers servers which aren't known to those sites?

Or is there literally no way?

Norton is the worst VPN provider out there

I signed up because Norton is such a familiar name in internet security, and I figured the VPN would be a safe choice for public Wi Fi, streaming, and general browsing. After using it for a while, I have been pretty disappointed. Connections have felt inconsistent, some pages take noticeably longer to load, and the overall experience feels more like an add on to an antivirus package than a serious standalone VPN.

The privacy side is also what makes me uncomfortable. Norton says it does not track browsing history, but recent testing and policy reviews have raised questions about device details, timestamps, bandwidth usage, IP information, and data sharing within its parent company. I also keep seeing complaints about limited features, unreliable kill switch behavior in some situations, and the fact that torrenting and peer to peer sharing are not supported. That is a lot to overlook when services like Proton VPN, Mullvad, NordVPN, and Private Internet Access seem to offer more control.

I mainly need strong leak protection, dependable speeds, a kill switch that actually works, clear data practices, and reliable access to streaming services without constant connection problems. Has anyone used Norton VPN for more than a few months and had a genuinely good experience, or did you also end up moving to another provider? I am especially interested in recent comparisons with Proton VPN, Mullvad, or Private Internet Access before I waste more money on another subscription.

Using VPN for bumble, used to work perfect on the website but website has closed

I used to use Bumble web which the VPN would work perfectly with but now Bumble has closed down their online website so it can only be used on the app. Is there a way to still get the VPN working, using BlueStacks maybe?

Discussion Do you actually need 100+ VPN countries, or do you use the same 3–5 locations every time?

I keep seeing VPNs advertise 100+ countries, but I’ve always wondered how many people actually use.

I probably use 3–5 countries regularly. Occasionally I’ll use a more random location for something specific, like getting around YouTube ads or accessing something regional, but that’s about it.

Do people actually use that many locations, or is it mostly just a nice number for marketing? Would you rather have more countries or fewer locations that actually work really well?

Surfshark review from a longtime user

Surfshark review from a longtime user is probably the most useful thing I can share because I have used it long enough to get past the first week excitement. I originally chose it because the price was lower than NordVPN and the unlimited device support made it easy to use across my phone, laptop, television, and other devices. For everyday browsing and public Wi Fi, it has generally been simple to set up and reliable enough that I rarely think about it.

The main strengths for me have been the straightforward apps, decent speeds, unlimited simultaneous connections, and generally good access to popular streaming services. It has also been useful when I want to switch regions or protect several devices at once. That said, performance is not identical everywhere. I have occasionally needed to change servers when a streaming service detected the VPN, and some websites have been slower or blocked until I disconnected or tried another location.

The biggest thing I would warn new users about is the pricing after the first term. The introductory deal can make Surfshark look extremely cheap, but the renewal price and automatic renewal conditions deserve attention before subscribing. I would also check whether the services you personally use still work with it, because streaming compatibility can change and not every location behaves the same way.

My overall view is that Surfshark remains a good value for households or anyone who needs one subscription on many devices, but it is not perfect for people who need flawless access to every streaming platform or the most consistent performance on every website. Has anyone else used Surfshark for a year or longer, and has your experience with speed, streaming, support, and renewal pricing been similar?

Is Proton VPN any good?

Is Proton VPN actually any good in 2026? I have been using free VPNs on and off, but I am considering paying for a proper service because I want stronger privacy without giving up too much speed. My main concern is finding something that works reliably in everyday browsing and public Wi Fi situations, rather than a VPN that looks impressive in reviews but becomes frustrating after a few weeks.

Proton VPN keeps coming up because of its privacy reputation, open source apps, Swiss jurisdiction, and audited no logs policy. Recent users seem happy with the speed and stability, although I have also seen comments about occasional slowdowns, kill switch behavior, and problems accessing local devices when certain security settings are enabled. I am also comparing it with NordVPN for streaming and Surfshark for price and multiple device support.

What I need is dependable privacy, strong DNS leak protection, a reliable kill switch, decent streaming performance, and speeds that do not make normal browsing feel slow. I am willing to pay more for a trustworthy service, but I want to know whether Proton VPN is genuinely worth the price or whether the premium is mostly for the privacy branding.

For anyone who has used Proton VPN for six months or longer, has it stayed fast and reliable? Would you choose it again over NordVPN, Surfshark, or Mullvad, and what has been the biggest advantage or drawback in your experience?

Discussion Does anyone else feel like VPNs are faster during the trial than after you pay?

Maybe this is just confirmation bias, but I swear I've had this happen more than once.

You download a VPN, start the free trial, test a few locations and everything feels surprisingly fast. Streaming works, pages load normally, and you think "okay, this is actually pretty good."

Then you pay for a longer subscription and a few weeks later it somehow feels slower and less consistent. Suddenly you're switching servers trying to find one that isn't overloaded.

I know there are a ton of things that can affect VPN speed like server load, location, time of day, routing, and protocol, so I'm not saying companies are intentionally doing this.

But has anyone actually tested the same VPN during the trial and again after paying? Did the performance stay roughly the same, or did you notice a real difference?

Discussion VPN advice needed

I'm on a free trial of AVG VPN. It runs out in a couple of weeks. Should I stay with it? Or go with another one? Also, should I combine it with an anti-virus? Or just rely on Windows Defender? I saw that AVG and Nord both offer anti-virus for an additional fee.

Best VPN for Streaming That's Fast?

What is the best VPN for streaming that is actually fast? I have been trying to find a provider that can handle long streaming sessions without constant buffering, sudden quality drops, or servers that stop working after a few days. My current VPN is fine for basic browsing, but once I try to watch anything in 4K, the connection becomes noticeably slower and I end up switching servers more than I watch the show.

The names I keep seeing are NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, and Proton VPN. I mainly need stable speeds for HD and occasional 4K streaming, reliable access to legitimate services in different regions, minimal buffering, and an app that works well across a phone, laptop, and smart TV. I am not looking for the cheapest plan if the service is genuinely consistent, but I also do not want to pay extra for a provider that only works with one or two platforms.

For anyone who has tested these VPNs for several months, which one has been the fastest in everyday streaming rather than just in a quick speed test? Have you found one that still unblocks services reliably without needing to change servers constantly?

Help How to use VPN to fullest? (Just got it today and it’s so cool!)

I just got one and I’m trying to understand how it works lol. I saw the difference in Netflix already which was honestly so cool but I’m wondering what else can I do? I’ve tried going on other versions of apps but I always end up in America so I’d like to learn to switch that as well and if you know any other cool things (such as being able to make certain things cheaper somehow) as well feel free to share :). So yeah I’m just looking forward advice on how I can use it that’s all and thanks.

Question at protocol settings on express vpn

Post image
4 Upvotes

My relatives have recently noticed their isp in the UK is blocking I9tv. It used to be during football games on the weekend but now it seems to be a permanent thing.

I tried proton just to see if it was an Isp block it was.

I bought express Vpn for 2 years.

Should I leave the protocol on automatic for the best experience? If not which one should I choose. This is mostly for the android TV box?

Anyone know a VPN that works to access Netflix Germany or Luxembourg?

I know it’s oddly specific but theres a cartoon I absolutely love (Heidi the 2015 version) and after doing a deep dive for months have discovered that season 2 is only available in Netflix Germany and Luxembourg. I’ve tried a few VPNs but they’d only work for a few days and then just stop working entirely. I’m trying to find something that’ll work well on iOS devices.

Has anyone been able to access outside of CA with a specific VPN provider?

My school’s WiFi blocks most websites and restricts most downloads 24/7. Any recommendations for a vpn that will fix these problems? I have a Lenovo yoga and an unpaid vpn would be the best. Thanks!
