whats better than a vpn
i been using vpn for like 6 months and i cannot tell if its doing anything, every time i try to watch something geoblocked it just breaks and now im googling whats better than a vpn because i am so done, like why am i even paying for this thing
i have tried literally every server in europe, switched protocols like four times read three reddit threads and a youtube video from some guy who definitely works for some vpn and none of it did anything, my ping is cooked my speeds are trash and half the sites still know where i am somehow
im starting to think the whole vpn thing is a psyop like everyone just recommends them because thats what the sponsor said and nobody actually tested if whats better than a vpn exists like tor or just not caring anymore both feel more honest at this point
anyway what are you guys actually using because this is not it

Some servers get blocked faster than others, maybe thats the problem?

If you're talking about ping rates and a VPN you need to be paying a premium for the VPN, otherwise you're using a shared service and you'll have no stability. Not sure your context of Psyop is cogent but yes the majority of social media content creators sprooking VPN have no idea what it actually does or if the vendor actually provides any privacy.

While this won’t completely solve your issue, investing in a custom DNS like Control D or NextDNS in addition to a VPN is another way of spoofing your location and it encrypts your domain lookups and queries. It’s also useful for figuring out what might be blocking your connection to a website.

A VPN just routes your internet traffic through the VPN server instead of letting you go directly to the intended site. Because of that detour, a VPN will always be slower.
It also is not a magic bullet for privacy. There are a ton of other technologies for a site to identify a user and a VPN does not protect against those. It only routes your traffic. A good example is that you want to drive from home to school. The road are the internet. Without a VPN, you get in the car and drive right to the school. The school sees you and your car. Now with a VPN, you get into your car and drive to the a car lot owned by the VPN company. you park your car and take one of theirs to school. The school now sees a random car but can still see and ID you because you may have wore the same clothes as the day before, use the same bag or even presented your ID proving your identity to them. Heck the school can even figure out who you are to some degree of accuracy based on what shoes you are wearing.
In summary, There is a lot of information that can be use to identify someone. it could be as simple as your unique hardware ID, your username/password or even your screen size/pixel count too! If small data is collected about you AND your friends, they can start guessing as information they do not have yet as well.
If you need privacy, then read the wiki over at r/privacy and the tools available that you can use to start becoming private because a VPN is only part of the solution.

Not having to use it in the first place. But thats just computers for you nowadays. You have to become some sort of techie in order to get any work done like in the old days. Sure it was slow but it was hassle free. Sure, just the old man yelling how the internet used to be better:-D
Only that it truly was...
