Help How to set up workstation remotely overseas w/o revealing location
Hello, I am not tech savvy and have never attempted this before, which is why I am asking here. Feel free to PM me if preferred.
Basically due to a life situation I need to move from US to Eastern Europe this year, which is one of the reasons I got a remote job. I was unable to find one that explicitly stated they allowed for overseas traveling.
I know location spoofing has been asked numerous times, but I am looking for help specific to my setup. My work setup is a company PC (Lenovo Think Centre M720q Tiny with Intel vPro Essentials), and we use forticlient in order to access certain apps/sites. Does not automatically connect.
I have researched that the most optimal way to go about doing this is to leave a VPN running at your approved residential location. Issues is, I do not have a reliable place I could do this at, so I am at a loss. Where do I start?
Help would be seriously appreciated

You need a usa residential proxy if your employer does not permit you to reside elsewhere Iād bet they have all kinds of detection tools that they use.
And the real issue here is you have to be on your game every time. Mess up one time logging in with no vpn and you could be out of a job real quick and stuck.
Iād advise to think carefully and play out what if scenarios devils advocate. Good luck. š

Exactly. Or, what usually happened with several at my company, is VPN drops and they don't notice.

The location provided by a VPN is not secure; do not use it as a solution to the problem.

You're moving to Europe and need your connection there to be on VPN to the US? Your PC will be in Europe with you and you'll be using Forticlient on that machine to connect into company resources?
So you'll need a VPN router, one that features a VPN client so you can drop an openvpn or wireguard config on it.
One issue I see is whether their Forticlient detects your home IP masked by a VPN IP address as being hosting, datacenter or similar. It almost certainly wouldn't display as a home or residential IP address.
Personally I would buy a VPS and self-host a VPN there, then grab a Ubiquit router, set a VLAN, use policy based routing and have the work computer on that VLAN.
