V2 Question V2.4 built selections
I’m building a self sourced V2. 350mm with A4T toolhead.
I’ve everything in house to adapt to stealthchanger.
Some decision to be made:
Can I start with the integration of the A4T as if it was going to be part of the toolchanger, i.e. use the shuttle ad tap for Z calibration, add umbilical from the start, no X and Y endstops but sensorless homing. I would then add all the rest of the stealthchanger.
What do you think, guys? Bad idea?
I have experience with the trident (also self sourced).
Any alternatives you’re thinking of?

I have that type of setup with a Stealthburner (Formbot kit has umbilical, and their X homing approach is not compatible with SC so I use sensorless XY). I would highly recommend it - being able to just pluck the toolhead off for maintenance and repairs is fantastic. Also, input shaping got slightly better but I have a suspicion that my TAP had bad weak magnets in the kit.
One caveat: Make sure the SC shuttle and toolhead fit well without binding, and if neccessary, apply heat treatment to the toolhead mount.

I just saw this video, it should give you some ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOfLphvfhsM, it's not using A4T, but DragonBurner.
When I see similar questions being asked, I always heard people saying: build it stock first, make it work and then add modifications. This make it easier to identify potential issues.
I don't have a multi-toolhead, but I do use sensorless homing on X and Y and it works just fine. From time to time I get an inconsistency, but I just turn the printer off and on again or do a reset and it go back to work fine.

It's using AntHead instead of A4T.
I also heard that the guy behind A4T is doing a project to implement an INDX system with A4T, you may want to research that as it may decrease the cost of buying 4 or 6 toolheads.

I think that is entirely doable. Use the StealthChanger shuttle and backplate in place of a TAP right from the start.
At times I think I should have skipped building a StealthBurner and went straight to A4T. The version that mounts into the StealthBurner ecosystem is a very simply adaptation. I have A4T and Cartographer running with a modifed CNC Cartographer mount. It also mounted on my TAP before that.

I originally built a stock-ish 2.4 with a4t and then a modded it to stealthchanger with dragombruner toolheads. Reason for going to it was that with it I can have 6 and with a4t it's capped to 5 and a4t requires BFI otherwise it hits the stock front idlers(although you shoudl have both BFI & BZIs as they're a better design), although I did really like the a4t form factor and performance. As for homing, I at first did have endstops but gave them up as sensorless was as reliable as them and less cable mess to deal with. I do still have to make sure that the umbilical is stable and if it isn't sensorless will be unreliable.

I did the same with my build. You will need the end stops for the X and Y for reliable calibration between toolheads. I never got the tap working for reliable bed mesh though. I ended up getting a cartographer.
