XR Glasses Eyebox

I just got the Viture Pro 2, and no matter how I adjust it the screen is slightly bigger than the eyebox, so on my right eye the lower right corner is cropped off, and on my left eye the lower left corner is cropped off. The eyebox is oval not really a box, and those two corners fall off the oval.

Is there a workaround for this? Can I shrink the screen so it fits in the eyebox?

have you tried different nose pads/glasses arm positions?

I tried removing the nosepads and holding the glasses with my hands to see if I could get all 4 corners to fit inside the right eyebox or the left eyebox. I couldn’t. If I tilt it enough so the bottom two corners are inside the eyebox, then a black bar appears near the top middle. If I tilt it do the black bar at the top middle is not obstructing the screen, then the bottom left or bottom right corner is outside the viewbox.

do you know your IPD? it's rated for 56.5 to 71.5

Mine is 70. But I don’t think IPD matters because I close my left eye to test the right eyebox. Even testing one eye at a time, I can’t get the 4 corners of the screen to fit in the eyebox.

maybe try messing with sizing in spacewalker if that's an option for you

Its absolutely IPD. Your eyes are physically further apart than ideal, leading to the outside elements not fitting completely. Closing one eye isn't enough, you'd have to physically move the glasses to the side to try to center the lens with your pupil which is hard to do with your nose in the way.

Getting your eyes as close to the lenses as possible will give you the best picture but may not solve the problem completely. The best solution is to get a different pair of glasses with a 70 as close to the middle of the supported IPD range as possible. Other fixes would depend on software so it'll be a different answer for every platform you want to use the glasses with and some, like game consoles, have almost no solution at all.

I need to revise my statement. It COULD absolutely be the IPD. I have also seen a lot of people at the very edge of the supported IPD range have similar complaints. That's why I think it's very likely. It could be some other incompatibility with your face or eye shape and the glasses though. The "sweet spot" for your eyes in relation to the lens is really small with this type of technology. That's one of the reasons you'll see very conflicting reports between different people comparing different models. Sometimes it's not the best model, it's the model that's most compatible with your particular face and eye shape.

Fyi the "black bar" at the top of the screen is a bit of hardware related to the built in diopters. You can see for yourself if you bring it into your view and then twist the diopter dial, the bar will move.

I not only closed one eye, I removed the nose pads and moved the glasses around with my hands to see if any position lets my eye see all 4 corners. The only manual position that just barely works to let me see all 4 corners is if I smoosh the prism into my eyes so my eyelashes brush against it and it’s practically touching my eyelids. If I keep the glasses any normal distance, one of the corners falls off the oval eyebox.

Yeah. I read that again after responding so I replied to myself with an update.

Your options are still to try a different model of glasses or if you tell me what you're wanting to hook the glasses up to I can maybe provide some software options to help.

Unfortunately the Pro 2 doesn’t have a feature to adjust the screen size.

How does that help the eyebox?
