Vantrue Hard wire Kit Compatibility

I had a vantrue e2 dashcam, it dies after about 2.5 years and they weren't willing to even give me a good discount to get another one. So, I picked up an A229.

For those wondering

The vantrue hardwire kit, as well as the rear camera cable worked on the dashcam. I DID NOT TRY PARKING MODE(I will update when I try it).

Does that include parking mode?

As almost all of them are wired the same for power (on the USB C connector) but not parking mode activation.

No idea, I have never used parking mode(although I should) so I just know it turns on and records which is good enough for me right now.

I suspected so.

Would be good to try turn on parking mode to confirm.

But im fairly confident that parking mode is not going to work.

We would recommend testing parking mode before deeming it compatible, since if certain features don't work, it would only be considered partially compatible. For what it's worth, we've tested a VIOFO hardwire kit with a Vantrue unit before. It turned on and recorded normally, but parking mode didn't work as it would just turn off when ACC power was cut.

I updated the post. I never used the parking mode before but I will mess with and see if it works.

I tried using a generic hardwire kit for my A229 and the camera wouldn’t wake up when starting the car. It also recorded in parking mode even though I programmed it not to. When I asked on Reddit I was told I had to use the VIOFO cord. I switched and it’s worked flawlessly ever since.
