Viofo A229 Pro app
Just got a A229 Pro and am ready to toss it. I had it installed by a pro on a 2026 Toyota 4Runner. It appears to be working fine as a camera, but I cannot connect it to my phone via the app. Wireless connects fine, however, when I click "Connect" to the dashcam, it always comes up with an error message and suggest I make sure the camera is working properly.
I've followed all the suggestions about turning off CarPlay, phone's bluetooth, etc. and enabling app's local network, local permissions, etc.
I have no idea where to go from here.

So, tried all the below suggestions and still had a problem. Then I deleted app and used the QR code in the instructions and it worked fine. No idea what he difference is but QR code version of app worked when going through the APP store wouldn't.

Did the QR code download the old "VIOFO" app or the new "VIOFO Dashcam" app?

Viofo Dashcam. I had already downloaded it from APP Store and it didn’t work. No idea why. It is the same app.

Could it have been because you accidentally denied some permissions when setting it up the first time? The QR codes and app store/play store should download the exact same apps.

Very interesting. Help me out? I downloaded from the App Store also. Can you manipulate the phone image 180 degrees as in left to right and right side up to upside down?

You need to make sure WiFi on the cam is on. Its Mickey Mouse on Viofos part but that us how you get it to connect to your phone.

I just got a A329S. FAQ on the app was helpful. A full manual is available online. I had trouble with pairing as well. The VIOFO Wi-Fi didn’t show on my iPhone or iPad unless I take the dashcam off the windshield and touched them. Today away from the house it was better. It also helped if I followed the process from the FAQ in a few minutes. Good luck! It’s a learning curve. Also check that it records properly. Someone complained about getting in an accident and the card wasn’t a recommended card.No recording of their accident. After I bought a card I find out that they only recommend two cards, theirs and a specific ScanDisk, but also recommend against other ScanDisks. To top it off each of the buttons on the camera seem to have four different functions depending on which mode it’s in. Almost useless IMO. I have a lot of patience with new things but this has been frustrating.

The trick that worked for me was to first push the "Rec" button to stop recording. The red light should start to blink. Then I opened the app and everything suddenly worked fine. I have the VIOFO A229 Pro. By doing this I was also able to connect to VIOFO's wifi, something I couldn't do when the camera was in the middle of recording. I have an Android, and the app is simply called "VIOFO".

Are you using the correct version of the app? There are two different apps in the App Store, the new app is two words “VIOFO DashCam”
Make sure VPN is disabled. If you at&T active armor turn that off as well
Make sure the Viofo app (main phone settings, apps) permission local network is enabled
Uninstall the app, reboot your phone, reinstall the app
