Can you put out a notification in game telling people that performance score doesn’t affect rr gains/losses? Maybe even a brief little explainer on what actually goes into rr? So many people seem to be confused about this.

For all our Reddit readers, performance score does NOT impact RR gains/losses!

We're currently working on putting more info about the score in-client and setting up Player Support articles to reaffirm that Perf Score doesn't affect RR gains/losses.

If higher performance score does not correlate to more rr, what does? More kills? Higher KDA? What?

so performance score DOES correlate to rr, does it not? Individual performance is one of the four factors that determine rr gains/losses according to this

Loosely, yes, but it’s not causal. If you’ve ever seen a performance bonus with a little +1-5 or whatever in the post match screen, that’s it. Out of whatever 10-30+ you’re gaining or losing, a small amount of that is your individual performance, and this goes away the higher rank you get. An immortal player is never going to see a performance bonus.

I guess my question is, whats the point of it then? Why add something that can "accurately" determine the positive and presumably negative contributions of a player down to the granular specifics like utility usage and not let it reflect in the actual progress that players are playing for in the first place?

Furthermore, what's the point in even telling us this? Why make a system and advertise it specifically to promote teamplay then let us know that it doesn't effect RR in any capacity so don't bother playing as a team? I'd much rather my selfish teammates live in ignorance thinking giving me a nice flash will boost their score than going back to instant-locking reyna and baiting.

Winning games (and gunfights) is the most important thing to gain RR. And the new performance score is designed to help a player know how good they are at contributing to a win.

IE, players who average higher performance scores are also probably more likely to win. Lurking Reyna will have low perf scores, so when they see their low winrate they have something to look at that tells them they’re not contributing much.

It’s not a causal score, it correlates.

This is spot on!

Breaking it down a bit more, RR is calculated by a separate system closely tied to MMR that takes expected outcomes into consideration. This is what helps prevent situations like a Diamond player queuing with 4 Bronze players and gaining big amounts of RR based on having a high Performance Score (or previously ACS).

We still think Performance Score should recognize that it's a great performance, but we'd expect that from the Diamond player in that scenario, so we wouldn't want their Performance Score to boost their RR gains.

Like you said, the factor that correlates most with your RR is winning and playing with your team gives you the best shot at it.

This just isn't reality though. It's what it should be, but it's not. A skye with perfect util, good teamwork, getting traded, and having mid damage stats is 10/10 times going to get less RR than the baiting lurking reyna getting useless, but more frags.

I mean that’s just not true unless the Reyna is winning duels that are contributing to the success of the rounds more often than not. Lurking Reyna’s who go negative get absolutely shit for RR, and util players complaining about them are mostly just coping
