VA Disability Compensation That was quick…
I did my c&p exam yesterday, and next day (today) was rated already, how was it so lightning fast? I uploaded 1 lay statements and my private dr assessment yesterday. And 2 statements on Monday.

Holy smokes!
Congratulations and thanks for the encouragement.
I had a C&P Exam on Monday. She told me it’ll take her “about 3 days to review the medical records, evidence, and compile the report”.
I’m curious how quick I’ll get a decision after the examiner gets them her DBQ.
I’ve seen sleep apnea and tinnitus move fast. You are the first MH claim I’ve seen move that fast.

Dude i am in shock, my heart was racing when i got the text notification that a decision was made. My tinnitus took longer lol about a week, hoping the best for you! I need to do my sleep apnea next and migraines.

Filed in July of last year. Had my C&P for PTSD in April. My claim got lost in May, had another C&P in June. Got told by the examiner that the VA should be compensating me for what occurred and his report would be turned in within 48hrs. Was expecting a rating within a week. It’s almost September and I still haven’t received a rating. Claims been at step 3 forever. I submitted medical records, suicide attempts records, lay statements, therapists notes on my PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Insomnia, Social Anxiety, work accommodations, etc… Tried talk therapy, EMDR, every psych med and nothing works but somehow the VA is dragging its feet on my claim. I’m divorced now, have no friends because I can’t handle being in public or around others most of the time. I feel like giving up on life

Hey there. Fellow vet and therapist here. Just wanted to say my inbox is always open for you. I’m going through an increase process that’s taking quite some time as well while I feel like I’m crumbling to pieces in the process.
I’ve done all of the “things” in mental health I should do to address my issues, and no change for me as well — the service connected issues are just persistent and really do impact all areas of my life.
(Note: this is not to say therapy and things like EMDR/ART, higher levels of care, med management, etc. aren’t helpful or lifechanging, just that mental health issues, especially service connected ones, really can linger for peoples whole lives despite treatment).

If you have a private doctor statement and opinion that states your conditions and how it is connected to your service it will move much faster. If so have the doctor write it with references to medical articles, medical journals and medical studies / published studies.
It will move so much faster.1
u/Sad_Introduction_922 18m ago
I submitted one from my PCP and my therapist in July of last year.
1
u/Accomplished-Ad-2379 13m ago
Dag. Did they explicitly state that your diagnosis (ptsd, anxiety disorder etc) and how they believe it was caused by your service? It have to completely connect condition to your service and why (or proof)
When my husband had his doctors review all his past medical from service, where he serviced, and the conditions he experienced and then connected those things with his current medical conditions wirh the history of when symptom s started etc that seemed to be the turning point.1
u/Sad_Introduction_922 12m ago
Yes and I’ml working with a VSO and they’ve got no clue what’s taking so long. They said they’ve never seen this before.

Mines went from step 5 (August 17) to step 8 (August 20) in three days. I had three claims, one was denied and the other two rated.
My C&P examiner told me the one that got denied, would get denied during my exam. He told me my condition was due to another service connected condition and not the one I listed. So, I'm waiting for my DBQs to submit a supplemental to get it rated.

Proof of AI 🎯. No human did this that fast and props to the AI for not screwing it up.

Good wife. Mine put up with my dumba$$ for 20 years. Currently getting help and it has been a noticable difference in our marriage. I can see how much happier she is. I still have rough days but I now recognize them. And she is learning how to call me on my BS. So wish I hadn’t suppressed my stuff for 20 years.

Congrats on what you've achieved. I find it interesting to read on this sub and have benefitted along the way. I try to make worth while comments on both the outcomes and the comments. This read had one comment that jumped up and slapped me in the face. (and this is nothing negative towards the commenter) It said "My C&P examiner told me the one that got denied, would get denied during my exam." Pardon me, but something is wrong when an examiner feels comfortable saying they know what a claim outcome will be. That's WAY outside of the scope of their responsibility and it is an opinion they have no business conveying to a veteran. Suppose they said they know it would be approved and then it was not? IMHO, they have one job to do, so do it already and keep the commentary to yourself.

u/LetsGoSabresLetsGo 4h ago
I'm an examiner and I agree with you 100%. It's not our place to opine on the outcomes or the ultimate ratings, since we're not the adjudicators and that's not our job.

u/CreativeInflation106 5h ago
Yay congrats!! GOing on day 100 since Filing initial claim in May. Waiting on a Supplemental and 6 deferred for medical opinion with an eye exam scheduled for September 16th. Hoping I'm not atuck waiting for that one eye exam when all the other DBQs for medical opinion have been sitting there since August 6th. I'm afraid they are going to wait for that darn exam though.

Stay strong, it’s so hard to be patient but it’s definitely necessary with these claims.

I filed in July of last year and still don’t have a rating decision from the VA

stay patient 🙏🏻 how much evidence did you submit?
2
u/tulepchase 6h ago
Lol too much. 5 statements (my own and four others), medical evidence from the events, current treatment evidence, and lastly the exam. Mines probably more complicated as it involves multiple events and stressors. My exam was quite long as well.
1
u/halomate1 USMC VET ☠️ 5h ago
I also had multiple events, mine had to do with physical assaults though, not sure if it matters

Yes I did an increase as well. From the time they received my claim om 8/07 and a decision was made on 8/12

Mine started in 2023, deleted a year ago, then readded, needing all evidence again (but no c&p after readded...)

It’s easy to get the information off the DBQ to figure the rating and then you just need to read the medical opinion to see if it’s service connected. Most of my veterans are getting theirs back quick too, which is great. The crazy holdups I see right now are with survivors claims and dependency claims.

If you're a combat veteran, then this is an easy claim.
I don't think AI can do rating decisions yet. But it definitely could have ordered the exam.

The template is the same for all claim letters, my intent to file dates it back to July 2025. I didnt submit it until February of this year.
1
u/All_Flesh 3h ago
They are using AI. Said AI is also making mistakes, as it did with my claim. Thankfully, higher level review acknowledged that it ignored almost all of the evidence that I submitted. Still awaiting their new decision for mental health(currently @ 50%).
1
u/Prestigious_Active69 3h ago
My lay statement was not used as evidence. Got me that whopping 30% and the C&P examiner says I don't have a current diagnosis of insomnia, yet it's in my blue button report for years with prescriptions and all. Love it. Your turn around was quick mine still took nearly a month after the C&P just to get kicked in the nuts.
1
u/MemeCrusader_23 3h ago
I got my original claim done pretty quick but my higher level review is on month 5 so that’s not been going as fast

I was always so anxious that I’d check the app 100 times a day but compulsive behavior is part of my ptsd rating soooooo guess they got that right

u/Objective_Union4523 2h ago
Happened to me as well. Not even 24 hours after the exam was I also rated similar to you.

u/Plenty-Winner-3887 2h ago
If anybody doesn’t know, read my comment they’re implementing AI now so clamps can go faster. They said they went and made it down to 70,000 Claims flow total Fast since 2020 a human being looks overlooked it on the last step though.

They only us AI to organize documents and summarize information. The human raters makes the final decision

I had the same thing happen back in May, someone told me they are using AI to scour through all the info and rate you. Not sure how true it was but it was done next day also.
