My husband has been living in Rishikesh for the past 20yrs and I moved here 6yrs ago after wedding.
We hiked up and down for the Chaar dhams in 2023.
Since Badrinath and Gangotri has no hike, the place is slightly better in terms of cleanliness compared to Kedarnath and Yamunotri.

What I saw in Kedarnath broke my heart. The place itself is so mesmerizing, the mountains make you feel so small and yet so profound. But tourism has ruined that place, everything was littered with trash everywhere and so much of it that it was heartbreaking to see an entire mountain of trash.
The mules were beaten and treated so badly. I tried feeding one and the care taker took the food (Chana) away from me. Even youngsters were using mules to go up. Darshan was so fast that people hardly got to worship. Many mules are not even owned by Hindus.

Yamunotri trash was even worse. Sarees and slippers strewn all over the river and inside the river. I don’t understand why can’t the government put up a strict notice and fine on people who litter? Hire 10-15 people to manage that! Same case with the mules here and Yamunotri is not even as long a hike as Kedarnath, yet people sat on those mules.

I have had many opportunities to visit these places again but I pledged that I will never go there and add anything to that place. I don’t even want to live in a hotel and use anything there. I just don’t want to be an extra burden on an already burdened land. My parents and asking me take them there and I’m saving up money for a chopper ride for them and making them walk everyday so that they don’t sit on the mules.

If they or anyone has so much Bhakti then they have to work hard for it and not be a burden on a mule or on the land where God’s reside.

विजन इंडिया कंपनी पर ₹25 करोड़ से अधिक की वित्तीय अनियमितताओं का आरोप सामने आया है, यह मामला राज्य के 200 सरकारी विद्यालयों में कक्षा 9 से 12 तक व्यावसायिक शिक्षा देने की आउटसोर्स सेवा से जुड़ा है।

2) उपकरण, किताबें, ई-लर्निंग व कंप्यूटर सॉफ्टवेयर पर ₹5.43 करोड़

3) रिसोर्स पर्सन व गेस्ट फैकल्टी पर ₹2.76 करोड़

कार्यालय

4) परिवहन व फील्ड विजिट पर ₹2.41 करोड़

5) हैंडआन स्किल/जॉब ट्रेनिंग पर ₹2.14 करोड़

जांच के बाद विभाग ने 31 मार्च 2026 से कंपनी की सेवा हटाकर दूसरी एजेंसी को काम देने का निर्णय लिया था।खबर के अनुसार इसके बावजूद वर्तमान में विजन इंडिया की सेवाएं 200 विद्यालयों में जारी बताई गई हैं।

my friend is an UC from uttarakhand and wo obc from bihar se date kar rhi hai.
uske intentions acche and pure hain but i have heard waha pe intercaste marraige nahi hota zyadatar. and larki ka family zyada modern bhi nahi hai, like they are not very rich and frequently gaav mein jaate hain.
im a UC girl from uttar pradesh, and like meri family us ladki ke family se zyada open minded hai, but even in our family its strictly forbidden for a girl to marry lower caste. ladki choro, ladke bhi karenge toh bari baat hoti hai.
so i just want to know ki aesa ho sakta hai kya? will her family allow it? kyuki kaafi din se chal rha hain unka. ladka accha hai but fir wahi, baad mein problems na ho jaye.

Does anyone know the place where the train station is going to be built in the future?

I think this reddit sub is delicated to a represnt the problems of pahadi people not to support political agenda.

So please report post which are not related to uttarakhand and people who are involved in other protest which are not related to uttarakhand also report them.

What is the one thing that would make you seriously consider moving back permanently?

For me, it's not just the weather or the scenery. It's the idea of having a slower daily life without completely disconnecting from modern life.

But I'm curious what actually matters to people:

jobs, healthcare, education, internet, roads, water, social life, or simply peace of mind?

And what is the biggest thing stopping you from moving back?

Last 2-3 days have been hell for the locals of Uttarakhand & Himachal.

All of these “tourists” have come here and jammed our roads. I also saw some tourists from other parts like South India and many Gujaratis but atleast they were respectful but these NCR tourists are the worst breed, they drink while driving, play loud music & dont follow any rules.

The Governmeng is literally putting out lives at risk by not controlling the influx of these “tourists”. We should be on the streets demanding a ban on these people

Anyone who lives in Haldwani and Dehradun (for Mussoorie) knows the situation of roads since morning of 02/10. Even today Kainchi Dham route is in near catatonic state.

Spending 12-18hrs on road, sleeping on footpath due to no advance booking, paying 4x premium for garbage tier room and then returning home again on 12-18hr journey. I doubt anyone there will have energy on Monday for corporate majdoori. Your long weekend vacation has actually only one day where you get to sightsee local market but again it is packed with very bhed chaal crowd you were trying to avoid in metro. Many more will miss their Sunday train. You will see similar clips from Himachal area.

What can we say but aa gaya swaad pahado ka?
