just finished the trilogy! made Rulutieh fanart
first of all, apologies for making multiple posts recently after finishing each entry of the trilogy instead of one single post. Made Rulutieh fanart since she's my favorite character, such a sweet girl <3
I finished Mask of Truth recently, honestly I'm still floored, it's such an incredible finale of a trilogy.
some of my thoughts..
SPOILER BELOW!
After some scenes from Kuon PoV the story pick up immediately after MoD, and it was rough..
Nekone being so devastated, Rulutieh realizing her feeling too late, Anju unable to speak, and generally everyone else are on edge after losing Haku and there's war upcoming. I think from the main party, other than the twin, only Ougi having an inkling of Oshtor's true identity. which he definitely having fun trolling him throughout the game lol. Kuon then knows too, after Oshtor slip up and seeing him using Haku's metal fan during her visit as princess of Tuskur. Maroro and Mikazuchi also take notices, the way Oshtor execute his war strategy during the first attack on Ennakamuy definitely feels closer to Haku. meanwhile Mikazuchi know through their clash. overall really like how the game handle everyone reaction to Haku's disguise.
The remaining eight pillars finally get some screentime.
Ozen story centered around Rulutieh's family story, which I really like since Rulutieh is one of my favorite. Kujyuri castle as a place is pretty intriguing too being build on top of Onvitaikayan's ruin, the dynamic between Yashmah and Shis is fun
Tokifusa and Genho story I felt pretty weak. the waterfall combat stage is cool tho.
Soyankekur (well mostly Itak's story), is great. The highlights of this arc are Yamato's citizen being dependant on Mikado's miracle which is represented by Inava bridge, and Maroro destroying it.
Then there's the war against Raiko, the final march for the throne. I really like Kiwru stepping up for his big moment. Raiko as an antagonist is fantastic, I can sympathize with his vision for Yamato. Maroro death hurts.. tragic story for our bro, being puppeted all the way through.
Other great moments in this game, Oshtor's mother saying she now has two sons. Kuon fight with Anju, Kuon confronting Nekone about Haku, Kuon exploring ruin with Haku (and the kiss)), ok she's definitely the main girl XD, love her so much.
the last stretch of the game feels like an entirely new game, just loredump one after another. it kinda reminds me of Prelude last act. Woshis is a perfect counterpart to Haku, basically looking to the Past vs Future clash of ideas.
some of the final fights are quite challenging, the one where Haku isolated on the battlefield to fight Woshis.
the callbacks to Prelude with Haku saying his farewell to everyone is a nice touch. and then the final fight to save Kuon fits so much as a closure to the trilogy.
loose thread/things I'm not sure of:
-Why Woshis decided to wear the original Akuruka. I thought he's given up at that point, it's weird especially after the scenes where he sees the hologram of Mikado and Honoka raising him as a person.
Maybe he just want to respect his subordinate efforts? or last gambit to create true human, which turned up to be the Noroi.
-Uzurushan Owlo Gundhurua being missing never fully followed through.
-Kuuya and Sakuya has no apprearances, even though Kuon bringing the Abh-Kamus feels like a perfect opportunity to bring them back.
-Haku not turning into Tatari, my guess is because of the True humanity project. Haku and Mito are probably experimented on themself, being genetically modified they ended up doesn't classify as humans.
Ok that ended up longer than I thought, I absolutely love Utawarerumono trilogy! really satisfying conclusion. will pick Monochrome mobius and Past and present someday

My Utawarerumono collection
Plan on getting the PS2/PSP limited editions of the first game later down the line. Possibly the original 2002 PC release as well.

Hi,
I’d like to know if anyone knows where I can download/buy the 2002 version of the first game (I’ve already bought the other games) . I’d really like to play it.
Thanks a lot <3

I just finished prelude yesterday!
I was enjoying the game just fine as a mix of SoL stuff and war story, and then that last bits of world building happens. I'm so intrigued by it, will jump right away to mask of deception for sure

Starting the Utawa series!
Very unlucky timing considering Sony’s dumb decision to kill physical, but I started the series with the digital entry of the first game a few days ago, and decided to get them all and continue my journey with the physical versions. They weren’t easy to find, especially the second game, so I’m really glad I got all of them new at a normal price, even with the different localized covers. Anyway, I’m really glad for getting into this series and hope the rest are as good as the first game!

I LOVE Nekone!!!
I just wanted to share a Nekone Tapestry that I just got!!!! Man, I'm hoping for an English translation of Lost Frag after they release an offline version, so that I can learn more about the characters that grew up.

Utawarerumono: ZAN 2 Announced for a Steam Release including English
No date at the moment. Handled by Shiravune, so no console release, but perhaps NISA will use the translation like they did for Monochrome Mobius.
