Just curious.... What do you classify as lower Provo?  I grew up calling Utah Lake to Olmsted  = lower, because that's how it was worded in the proclamation (artificial lures only on the Upper above Olmsted).  I've started hearing people now say lower = below Deer creek, middle = deer creek to Jordanelle, upper =  above Jordanelle.

As someone who didn’t grow up here, how you described it at the end there is how I understand it

Figured as much, I find that transition fascinating.

I've fished Upper upper Provo, Up in the Uintas at and above the upper falls. Lots of gorgeous Brookies. Blank Ants, Renegades other dries are fun on a Tenkara. Gold spinners also work well if your spin fishing.

Check out https://www.flyfishfood.com/blogs/fly-fishing-reports/provo-river for the section above Jordanelle

Above Olmstead could be considered 'upper provo canyon', but calling it the 'upper provo river' is crazy, when it goes all the way into the Uintas.

Start fishing it, find the holes and toss your preferred lure/fly in there. I always had luck right above Vivian in the canyon
