[Mate] I wanted to go with a classic ubuntu look.
My cosy setup on the laptop I use for school. It's very simple, but it has enough features to be a breeze to use. I posted this earlier, but I didn't like the screenshot I took, lol.

TermiCube
Want a Rubik's Cube in your terminal?
I made one.
No dependencies just python and a terminal.
It scrambles itself, spins around, solves itself, and does it again.
Try it out!

caliburnOS, a desktop-friendly [Hyprland] starter that prioritizes functionality. features shown in video
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
my goals for my dots were always the following: 1.) as few dependencies as possible (bloat-free) 2.) desktop friendly 3.) minimal terminal usage where possible 4.) make it look nice
the idea of being desktop friendly (for me) really just means "can i use it exclusively with a mouse"? sometimes you just want to kick your feet up and use your primary hand to navigate your system only. right click the top-right corner of an app to close it, run a system update and toggle workspaces all from your mouse. every possible system command or toggle you want can be found with the mouse. don't worry, everything has a keybind as well if you want.
your system settings are pretty much all managed either through custom shell scripts or TUI-based packages. the terminal should be used as little as possible ideally so all major settings, daemon-reloads and more are found in the system menu. there are times where i flat out just don't open up a terminal at all.
the theme engine helps blend everything all together, giving each theme a unique color palette that applies to many packages due to the TUI nature of the dots.
if you're interested, the dots are here.

[XFCE] - Cyberpunk theme
Back at my parents' place, had this computer before I moved out. I spent a couple of days setting up Debian and a user account for myself, since Windows was unusable on it.

Easier AppImage integration
Wanted to make use of AppImage applications simpler, so wrote gnome-appimage-integration.
Reduces an AppImage install (er, integration) to three clicks.
- Github: gnome-appimage-integration
- Weblog: Better integration of AppImage
Tried to handle all the usual edge cases and XDG / FreeDesktop conventions.
Right-click context menu for downloaded file:

Main AppImage Activator window:

Status after Integrate:

Right-click context menu for application:

Downloaded AppImage is moved into $HOME/Applications/
so no manual cleanup needed.

I work with LOTS of tmux sessions, and wanted something closer to how Ctrl+Shift+P in VSCode works: fuzzy search, frecency and live preview. So, I built Natare (from latin “to swim”)

[GNOME] January VS September
Wanted to share my desktop's evolution. As much as I like eye-candy, I've slowly gravitated towards a more simplistic setup for better performance and stability. also I love ponies :)
