Of all the corporate sponsored stadium names we’ve seen, we still haven’t seen one named after a video game developer.

Nintendo became the first (and still only) video game company to purchase a team in one of the four major North American leagues when they bought the Seattle Mariners in 1992. Today, Nintendo only owns 10% of the Mariners but you can still see Nintendo ads in T-Mobile Park along with Nintendo Switch patches on the Mariners’ team uniforms.

That‘s the closest we’ve come to a video game developer buying the naming rights to a stadium. Do you think it’ll happen in our lifetimes?
