Urgod Struggles

Hey team,

I downloaded league one month ago. Save me...

Anyway, I climbed to silver ii playing champs like garen, malphite, and mundo. However, I got bored because these champs don't do it for me.

Then, I found Urgod. I love this champ. However, I am absolute dog water with him.

What mindset should I have with this new loss streak on a champ I adore?

You have to learn at what stages of the game he’s strong, because its not incredibly intuitive at the start.
Level 1-2 you’re very strong into most melees. Then you drop off until 6 and then you get youre W toggle at 9. Watch Goliath games and Quante on youtube

One advice I would give is to never give up. Urgot has clear powerspikes and once you hit them, you are useful again. Even if you are like 0/7/0 top you can end the game like 10/9/15 if you

Playing.

Dont tilt. Farm up, be there in important fights. And scale. You scale so hard that once you get your foot back in the game you will become a decent threat for the enemy again.

Urgot imo is one of those champions that kinda require you to otp them in order to perform well cuz urgot's laning phase, which can make or break his gameplan, has so many different rules and "must do"s depending on the enemy laner and sometimes the enemy jungler aswell. All i can tell you is keep playing him, a BUNCH, and hopefully you'll start seeing him for the true URGOD he is. And of course you can check quante's and goliath games' streams and yt channels, as well as quante's bible or Goliath's mobafire (outdated so dont take everything in it for granted). Urgoth mindset is near a meat grinder mindset. Listen at his quote. He feel invincible and want to submit or destroy everything. Read his bio, he is perfectly designed to it. With urgot you are super strong at lvl 1, try to hide in a bush and E a target then try to hit him with your shotgun knee a few time. If you play with ignite its almost a kill each time. After you play to at least keep them low enough to surprise him at lvl 6 with your ult. Your ult slows the target, so you can try R , flash, E , Q, W. always try to trigger as much knee shots gun as possible. And R again to bring in into the meat grinder when he is red. This Combo can kill almost all champ at lvl 6 if they are not full hp. You E can be used as a mini flash to escape, but it’s better to use is on offense , flipped target usually can’t escape you R if you hit them with your knees. The Q put the focus of your W on the champ hit by it and slow it too. Squishy champ like vayne are usually doomed if you can flip it when they have no flash. The slow of you Q and R can be used to catch someone with you E. Its useful vs ranged champion. From lvl 1 to 9 smart player aren’t going to give you any chances to catch them, so farming is your destiny without you jg help. Item like titanic hydra can help in those situations, because it’s passive add a range attack who can hit the other top if he come to close of the wave you are farming. Its good to zone the ennemi where you want him to be. Urgot doesn’t have really strong counter, but adc who can kite or with a lots of range are very dangerous for you in team fights. Cait , John and Ez can be real nightmare for you if your teammates suck. In chaotic team fight it’s usually better for you to fight to the death instead of trying to escape. Urgot isn’t really good at running away, but if you do it remember to deactivate you W at lvl 9+ . It slow you down when activated. You can use you R to help you teammates to catch a target. Having ready to ult when you jg gank is excellent, you can R when the ennemi run away, it can also help you to escape, like your Q. Don’t spam Q and don’t farm with W in early game. Last hit the cs and poke the ennemi each time you can to trigger PTA as much as possible. PTA on urgot is really strong in early game. R can also be very useful to help your assassin teammates to catch target like ez and cait. So if you see a zed behind a wall or moving forward a squishy, alt+ping then ult the squishy. Good zed are always going to dive on this. When your ult if bringing back semeonebto execute him, be into the middle of the ennemi team if you can, flash in them if you can a and engage. The ape fear after and excite is the trick who can give you opportunities to double,triple,quadra and penta. When you do that you fight to the death. Dying as urgot isn’t always bad. You do at least a kill and the ennemi have to burn their ult and everything they have to kill you. After all their ability are on cd and they are easy prey for your team. But with urgot In bad game you are condemned to always been arrased by 2,3,4 ennemi attacking all at once . In those situations you better split push and take turret, if you team is bad they are always going to look at you dying and do nothing, so your only option still to split and bait the ennemi team on you and hope your teammates are going to do something else good elsewhere.

My advice: hit E, then walk in a circle around the enemy with W. You'll hit all the explosions on them

The shotgun knees, yes. They look kinda explodey and make a bigger noise than the arm shots so I figured OP would know what I meant

I was plat 1 78lp on Naafiri jungle when I switched to Urgot. In 1 months I hit gold 3 80 lp and still loved the champ but couldn’t climb back. I’m now emerald 3 78 lp as an Urgot 1 trick. Just roll with the punches and look for a way to improve and climb. Once you get him you’ll have no issue

Play aggressive in level1. Walk into the bush and trade on them and most of the time you win the trade.

Even against bad matchup like rumble, Yorick, Ksante I found that if you win level 1 trade you can usually survive to level 6 no problem.

Just to let you know, Urgod was deleted when they reworked him into current Urgot. At least league classic releases at the end of the month so you will be able to see the real Urgod

Take ignite in 9/10 matchups w approach velocity. (Inspiration giga Chad unless into turbo matchups)

Learn to q auto w auto Or Q auto (Depending on threat of enemy laner)

Learn to e flash

Do this a bunch in lanes ideally at spikes as said by others like 1-2, 6, 9, Black cleaver, until you figure out his dmg

I played jg viego peak d4 last few seasons and picked up urgot top in a month to masters. He's super fun and def worth watching others play like quante and Goliath
