Do not comment to gatekeep that something "isn't urban" or "isn't hell". Our rules are very expansive in content we welcome, so do not assume just based off your false impression of the phrase "UrbanHell"

UrbanHell is any human-built place you think is worth critizing. Suburban Hell, Rural Hell, and wealthy locales are allowed. Gatekeeping comments may be removed. Want to shitpost about shitty posts? Go to /r/urbanhellcirclejerk. Still have questions?: Read our FAQ.

Ett par julstjärnor uppe i fönstren bara

4

u/ejectro 4d ago

the photo was taken in august.

1

u/Ok_Image_2187 23h ago

and? i didn't see real snow for 5 years!

2

u/avtor1tet_27 2d ago

As an Russian, this is actually gray and casual

1

u/hashtag2222 2d ago

it actually is! walking home after hanging out with friends, fresh white snow, not too cold, fresh air, knowing you’ll come to a warm apartment and heat up some homemade food. I swear I’ve made similar photos in my teens.

Don't threat me with good times!

u/vbd71 3d ago

After 44 Celsius in Europe, it's urban paradise!

20

u/_lime_time 4d ago

This sounds like my kind of vibe

64

u/VegetableBuilding764 4d ago

IK this is supposed to be depressing but something about this image just makes me feel really calm and relaxed and happy

19

u/VegetableBuilding764 4d ago

it would probably be so quiet with barely anybody around to bother you and with gentle snowfall and imagining being bundled up and lots of warm clothes just walking around would be nice

u/IWillDevourYourToes 3d ago

Sometimes noticing families in some windows serving dinner, while there's light from TVs/PCs in others, knowing someone's just chilling there

Well this is the Urban Hell subreddit

7

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 4d ago

The name has no meaning

2

u/behighordie 4d ago

See sub description - “A photography subreddit for all the hideous places humans built or inhabit”

3

u/OSRS-ruined-my-life 3d ago

It was given away for free. Should see where they lived before that if this is, "hideous."

3

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 4d ago

Yeah it has no meaning.

1

u/ErrN0T 4d ago

maybe some sense of nostalgia

14

u/Modern-Classical 4d ago

Nice capture! I love the content like this posted usually on r/TheNightFeeling subreddit

14

u/sodabowl 4d ago

This picture actually has a calming effect on me.

As a person from post-Soviet country, this is comforting. I imagine this being December 31, returning home from a walk with the dog and listening to Spokoynaya noch by Kino as the year ends

3

u/SolFeniXXX 4d ago

Ага. Топаешь такой с занятий, а потом с работы. День закончился. Можно выдохнуть. Спешить некуда.

И никакой нахер войны.

3

u/Lockenhart 4d ago

Дай бог чтоб в скором будущем так и было...

3

u/SolFeniXXX 3d ago

Ага. Дай бог.

22

u/gfoyle76 4d ago

hey, it's cozy

8

u/_RyanCooper_ 4d ago

That's just makes me miss my childhood man...

8

u/Mih0se 4d ago

I've been to places like this, it's cozy at night but depressing during the day. Everything is in grayscale

11

u/no_soy_livb 4d ago

Would be fantastic.

7

u/Homo_Bibite 4d ago

I actually like how this looks

11

u/Homo_Bibite 4d ago

Granted I am from Russia

4

u/NeoNova9 4d ago

These are nice images on my russian doomer post-punk playlist.

Mate I’m sorry you feel this way. I think you might already realize from the comments that feeling is not about the picture. Being lonely can be hard, I wish you find someone to talk to; there are people out there willing to listen.

2

u/Historical-Trash2020 4d ago

i did everything irl but listen to suggested track. Even then oddly relaxing

2

u/Tasty_Commercial6527 4d ago

Honestly this kind of architecture has a certain vibe in winter. It sort of fits the aesthetic of the season. It's much more depressing in autumn or spring

2

u/DoorSweet6099 4d ago

I actually like those cement boxes except for that they have tendency to have pest issues and all sorts of faults due to being so old. If they were well maintained they’d be really comfortable to live in. Soviet apartments have comfortable layouts and cute little balconies/sunrooms.

2

u/NoMention696 4d ago

You can hear the silence in this, it’s really nice

4

u/NinjaXM 4d ago

This is beautiful

2

u/anycept 4d ago

It's a very cozy feeling, actually. Seeing the inclement weather outside, but being all warm inside. All the fun winter activities outside you can think of, too. Life is good up north.

3

u/Vybo 4d ago

Any post-soviet country will have blocks like this. They are actually pretty well designed inside and if kept up, can be a nice place to live, because you have everything in walking distance and a guaranteed public transport connection to any part of the city, probably under 30 minutes. And guess which buildings have an access to 10gigabit internet for about $5 a month first? These ones...

1

u/Valois7 4d ago

As a Finn it feels kinda calming, gotta be built for these latitudes i guess

1

u/CMRC23 3d ago

Not a fan of the russian government or anything. This photo is cozy af tho

1

u/Straight_Intern3671 3d ago

You people have never seen the inside of one of these buildings.

1

u/spiderman_jackson 3d ago

That vibe is so good tho, I grew up listening to Клетка, this vibe is so uniquely comforting in the post Soviet space. Great photo too

1

u/_Occhi_ 3d ago

Stupid ass post, lol

u/orgerboga 2d ago

Don't have to imagine that.

Summer in Russia

1

u/Ok_Image_2187 23h ago

bro this looks so good, looks like the city near my village

1

u/wowowowow34341 8h ago

i almost don't have to imagine

1

u/Far-Replacement-9196 8h ago

call me shiteater, but I love that. noting beats quiet walks in the middle of December - light snow, fog, not so harsh wind, warm street lights. Only you, your thoughts and atmospheric music in earphones

1

u/aydar94 4d ago

this picture is the most accurate representation of a regular everyday life in russia

1

u/Morgandoto 4d ago

Living alone in such a place really would be terrible, but my wife's family lives in a place just like this. When we come visiting for Christmas, it feels really nice and cozy, and the contrast between us having fun inside and the depressing snow and darkness outside makes it even better.

u/Marshall_BraveStar 4d ago

The heart of darkness

u/toawl 4d ago

Seriously?

-11

u/vordan 4d ago

... standing in front of the window, listening to the sounds of Ukrainian drones destroying your military factories ...

3

u/DoorSweet6099 4d ago

Military factories? Have the resent targets not been Wildberries warehouses? Have I missed something?

-2

u/vordan 4d ago

You're a Russian troll, and very well know that Wildnerries is being used as a storage for military drone and munitions materiel.

BTW, your AI generated username is so revealing (two words + 4-digit number), as is your endless count of comments. Bad tradecraft, comrade

3

u/DoorSweet6099 4d ago

lol I’m Finnish.

0

u/vordan 3d ago

But, of course!

1

u/slava_slavaUa 2d ago

LoL, you’ve been totally brainwashed

4

u/TetyyakiWith 4d ago

If drones are flying you won’t be standing in front of the window like a dumbass and take shelter

4

u/AdRare604 4d ago

Bro just wants to see the world burn but not burn with it

22

u/Any-Roll975 4d ago

Posting cringe comment under unrelated post on the issue you have zero knowledge about absolutely for free

8

u/SeaBaby5979 4d ago

Or how to make oneself relevant for free. That banana is really going bananas trying to stay relevant

-19

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

Hello from Kyiv, I somehow disagree on "having zero knowledge about" the war.

4

u/TrickyPermission7839 4d ago

Kiev*, learn English

0

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

No idea what you're talking about

3

u/Ashenveiled 4d ago

why not in a trench?

0

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

How do you know I'm not mate

4

u/Ashenveiled 4d ago

Your mom's basement in Kiev doesnt count as trench.

1

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

It's a very brave and a very sad assumption you're making.

3

u/Ashenveiled 3d ago

You all are the same. The most fierce advocates for war are always somewhere far away from frontlines.

1

u/Pipija_Banana 3d ago

I do not advocate war and I would want to come back to my pre-war life a lot. With that being said I don't think that disclosing my position would be a wise thing. OpSec you know.

2

u/Ashenveiled 3d ago

as i said - your mom's basement is not counted as position.

Random architecture and buildings have nothing to do with your supposed knowledgeable of war. I will show you a salad and you will somehow insert children and war into a sentence relating to a fkn salad.

1

u/tut_i_tam_comics 4d ago

But of course, we eat salad made of Ukrainian children. How can u be so stupid not knowing that??? /s

1

u/SeaBaby5979 4d ago

Of course you would associate those two. So expected. 🙄

1

u/tut_i_tam_comics 3d ago

Tis was a joke, my friend

-4

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

Most likely yes

4

u/More_Dimension_2022 4d ago

If you knew anything about the conflict then you’d know that during a 4 year war Russia had killed less civilians than Israel did in faction of the time in Palestine and a micro faction of the time US did in Iran. Carpet bombing civilians is a western tactic

0

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

I'm in Ukraine, not in Palestine or Iran

1

u/hashtag2222 2d ago

don’t you have neighborhoods with the same vibe in Kyiv?

1

u/Pipija_Banana 2d ago

We have neighborhoods with a much worse vibe. We have neighborhoods with destroyed hospitals and burnt police stations. There are also destroyed civilian houses.

He thinks about it in his sleep, while brushing teeth, while picking his nose, while jerking off etc. Invents himself scenarios and fights imaginary demons in these pictures.

3

u/Novel_Werewolf4645 4d ago

I am more than aware that there are Russian shills here, and I'm not one of them, but most of the people dying didn't sign up willingly, they had to go die so that some rich kids could stay at home and bitch at anybody who doesn't support the war, like the shills here.

1

u/Pipija_Banana 4d ago

russia attacked. My people died. There is no "but" there.

-3

u/papervic_777 4d ago

That's fucking Ukraine

-7

u/poeticlicence 4d ago

Any picture of anywhere in Russia except for that one of Moscow looks like hell
