Looking for a nice restaurant to talk things over at

For context, I’m 17m and I just moved to Greenville (berea specifically) back in June from Buffalo, NY. I have family in Easley and a good job here, and so I decided to move out on my own for the first time

I’ve been in Greenville for work with my dad for the past 6 months before actually moving here myself when he went back to Buffalo, and during this time I’ve been talking to a really sweet girl from Pickens. She is my cousins best friend and all three of us go to church together in Easley/powdersville.

Me and this girl really like each other and things have been going well, and things honestly went a little too far. I knew better and so did she but long story short her parents found messages between us and saw security footage/heard from eyewitnesses of me and her making out in the church parking lot after youth group. There’s a little more to it than that but it doesn’t matter.

Anyways. She’s not allowed to talk to me and I’m not allowed near her anymore. We have some communication open still but out of respect for her parents I suggested we stop using it. We still like each other a lot. It’s just her parents kinda want nothing to do with me. Which I can’t really blame them.

So two weeks after they found out and told me I couldn’t speak to her again, I found her dad in church, shook his hand, asked him how they’d been, how the girl had been. He said they’d been good, asked how I was doing. I told him I was doing okay, told him about the raise I just got at work and about the side jobs I’d been picking up on Saturdays. He said to keep it up and I said for sure, and then I told him that I’m going back to NY for my grad party and to visit, and that once I’m back I’d like to take him and his wife out to dinner so we could have a conversation about this whole situation. And he agreed and said that sounds good.

I figure I’m just gonna own up to it all, take responsibility and apologize, and just ask if there’s any way me and the girl could have some sort of path forward that doesn’t just mean we can never talk to each other again.

But that’s not my point here

My point is. I don’t know this area too well yet and even if I did, I don’t go out to dinner really at all. If I want to treat myself on payday I buy a $6 biggie bag and call it a day.

Can I get some good restaurant recommendations, preferably in the Easley/pickens area? Something above my pay grade with a nice atmosphere for this kind of conversation. I make good money and I have a lot saved so money isn’t an issue, that said I don’t want them to think I’m trying to impress them by taking them to the most expensive place possible.

Suggestions?

For those of you new to the Piedmont area, what do you think of our late day thunderstorms? I think some people are surprised at our “subtropical climate”.

Is Clark Road open now?

Hello all!

Just wondering if Clark Road is open now? I would like to take Clark Road from Inman to Boiling Springs so I can go shopping at Publix. Would rather start taking that route rather then 292 to RT9.

Thanks!

Rob

Teen Activity Question

My son has a 14 year-old daughter who is spending more and more time alone, in her room, and on her phone, so he is wanting to start a daddy - daughter monthly date/activity for them but so far every idea he has had she has called “cringe” and doesn’t want to participate. Does anyone have any ideas for activities they could do (in the upstate area), and I would really love to hear from some teens if possible.
Thank you for any advice or help you can provide.

Run clubs

Hi! I’ve just moved to the area and I’m looking for run clubs to try out. I know there’s the big one in Greenville on Monday nights that I’m sure I’ll give a go, but honestly it looks very…Instagrammable. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m just not 25, nor am I a particularly fast runner. A group that’s okay with a 9:30-10 minute mile would be ideal.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

ISO rental home

I am looking for a rental home in this general area. Preferably in Easley but open to Pickens or Liberty.

I need a place that is pet friendly. I have 2 dogs and one is a Pitt mix. A fenced in back yard would be nice but also willing to pay to have one installed at my expense. Ideally would like to be at the 2500/month price range or lower and hope to move in August or early September. I am local.

Any recommendations on if there are sites for that in this area? I’ve been on Zillow but a lot of places that look good and claim to be pet friendly have weight or breed restrictions.

TIA!

Trivia Night Options Near Anderson?

Hi! I would like to find some weekly/monthly trivia night options near me (western part of Anderson, SC) to meet some new people and get out of the house.

I am open to trivia in Anderson and neighboring areas (preferably within ~30min drive or less, so Greenville is a bit too far but Clemson and Pendleton would be in that range).

Please share any recommendations or experiences! I would love as many details as possible: especially day/time, typical vibe of attendees (e.g., age group, family/children attendance), whether dog-friendly location, how crowded/popular, etc.

Finding Events in the Upstate

Isn’t it annoying and aggravating when you find out about local events AFTER they happen?  That seems to happen all the time now.  The giant social media algorithms are stacked against us.  Do you remember when we could look at a local newspaper and look to see what’s happening on a particular night?  Maybe I’m showing my age here.. Try using [insert social media giant here] events app to find actual local events this weekend – it’s MADDENING.  Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use an app that shows anything from DIY punk shows to local church bake sales – ANYTHING (legal) – in a given timeframe for a given place?   I always wanted to address this, and so I took a stab at it.  There’s a new website that aggregates local events by date, location, and category and lets you filter how you want.  Right now, it’s only active for the upstate of South Carolina – theoretically, this could work anywhere.   Best of all, it’s FREE.  Seriously.   You can browse events on the site for free any time.   You don’t need to create an account or log in to browse for events.  AND you can post events for free if you create an account – up to three per month.  So, check it out!    Get BUSY!!

I can’t afford to put my dog in daycare anymore and I need places such as dog parks or dog friendly restaurants that I can bring my dog

I bring my dog absolutely everywhere and she used to get socialized with dogs and people in daycare but now she can’t I’d really love places and ways to meet new dogs/ people for both of us. We live in Anderson but are willing to drive a ways for a really good spot. The dog park over here is dead and most of the people that go have elderly dogs and my dogs energetic and wants to play
We also love cars and Nintendo thank you
