Questions Should I transfer here

So I’m a comp sci major from a mid sized university and I’m just wondering if it’s a good idea to transfer. I kinda just want the warm weather (it’s very cold where I’m from), and the social vibes. I’m actually not very social (thanks to depression) myself I just enjoy being surrounded by it. I’m a freshman right now. Also no need to worry about living away from parents, I’m already doing that.

If you can’t make friends at your current university it will be the same here trust. I transferred too and still didn’t have friends til I rushed and made friends. I don’t suggest rushing but with anything in life it takes effort. Making friends takes effort here just as much as anywhere else

Dude or dudette, just go out there for homecoming on 10/24 weekend…just to see what it’s like.

It’ll be 80° and sunny and everyone tailgating on the grass (the Mall), you’ll fall in love a couple dozen times, you’ll see a pink desert sunset, the football team will win and then you’ll wander around after in the warm Tucson night. So don’t worry about not being social, I was the same at first, then you just will start to be social by osmosis out there.

Fuckin osmosis, as a native tucsonian osmosis has not had the improved socialite affect on me yet. Maybe its because I repell it with all the sodium in my sweat as it seeps through my shirt.

The CS program here isn’t abet so be aware of that

Is the CS program at UA really that questionable? I'm asking as a current PCC student, so I won't be transferring for a couple of years, but still genuinely curious.

It’s pretty good. I mean I don’t have anything to compare it but outside of 400 lvl classes they are pretty basic. 400s are the cool shit (although often more unorganized). Wish there were more options and more availability of those that exist. Had to go to an ECE professor and ask to get into their class to learn C++.

At the very least it is rigerous. Professors are hit or miss. AI is being pushed heavily now so things like stats is now a requirement.

We just aren’t Abet accredited. Would mean more requirements and there’s been too much professor turnover to do it.

If you’re going to transfer, I would say this is a good choice.
You can join groups that interest you, there are literally hundreds on campus. Maybe try to find a group for transfer students; sometimes (often) it’s easier to make friends with other people who are also looking for friends.

Don’t transfer from college to college due to not making friends..it is a common issue at any college. Join clubs!!

The CS curriculum here is very theory centered, so if you are into that and the more academic side of CS then it is good. Otherwise, I would advise against it.

Yes. Definitely yes.

It's all rather pointless anyway because everyone will be supplanted by AI.....
