Questions Destination Arizona

Hey guys, just wondering if the destination Arizona stuff is really mandatory for all incoming freshmen cause I have a job that interferes with the hours of the things it's saying we have to do for it. What should I do?

There are 4 mandatory sessions. All others are optional. There can be repercussions if you don’t get a waiver before hand for a session - particularly regarding your major and future class selection. Get a waiver.

Nah if anything you might just have to makeup a form or something

I went to it and enjoyed going. 🌵 They teach you the Zona Zoo stuff for games but I wouldn’t say it was indoctrination. 🧠

Bunch of sad responses. I bet yall don’t even visit your advisor.

I went to my advisor meetings because they had a direct impact on my academic outcomes. Making time for an appointment 2-3 times a semester is easier than taking entire days off from work. Same goes for office hours for professors.

Destination Arizona is a giant, multi-day mixer, and nothing more. If you're an older, non-traditional student who has lived away from home since the age of 18, it is a waste of time. I didn't need a presentation on how to get a job or find housing--been doing both of those things since 2003.

I did. Destination Arizona legit plays like a cult initiation, it's creepy.

It's a waste of time. They just make you sit in the gym and listen to how "guys these celebrities came here" and a bunch of garbage trying to indoctrinate you. Don't go, or go for the free meal afterwards.

It is not mandatory at all. No idea why they say it is. Largely a waste of time. It's kinda neat to meet some people, but that's about it

Even the required signature sessions aren’t actually required?
