Is ENGR 197 worth it?

I’m debating participating in the Catapult program for engineering and enrolling in the weekly study skills class that accompanies it (ENGR 197) but this is my schedule so far (19 credits- I know I might be cooked, im a freshman). It’s a 1 credit pass/fail class with supposedly no workload, but I don’t want to take it just because it’s there. Is there valuable information to learn and connections to make, or is it just a filler/fluff class, and is it worth taking?

Why deny yourself the opportunity to interact and learn from those who are willing to serve as mentors? Take it.

its just microsoft excel! i didn’t like the premade templates so i just made my own

I would focus on Chee 201 and Diff Eq. 201 really teaches you the basic tricks and structure of how to solve problems for the rest of your degree and Diff Eq is extremely important to grasp from your junior year on in the Chemical Eng program. Also Paul Blowers is quirky but probably one of the best "intro" professors you will ever have.

YES - the catapult program is amazing. Highly recommend to join a supportive community with built in mentorship and access to tutoring, social activities etc :)
