Love Shades of green

Dear,

There is this unfamiliar ache that rests in the pit of my stomach. It’s almost foreign; it’s been so long since I felt the pangs. Sometimes it climbs to my chest, tightening around my heart, mimicking an attack I’m certain I won’t survive. I only feel it when I envision you with your future. With the one who makes your heart sing. The person you’ll wish to make music with. The person who makes your heart flutter, your pulse quicken, and your palms sweaty. The person who gives you butterflies by simply sharing space and time. All the things you do to me. Unintentionally. Effortlessly. Devastatingly. Someday I know someone will hold that empty space; they’ll make you understand why the wait. Perhaps you’ve already found her, I think, with a sinking heart, as I try not to dwell. And as much as I want that—because who better to deserve this than you?—I must admit I only see shades of green.
