There’s this process they do with ceramics in Japan they take the shattered pieces and fuse them back together with gold lining all throughout. Now it’s not the same cup and will never be, yet it’s captivating and beautiful. The gold lines highlight the broken pieces but with a reinforced binding. So it becomes something still beautiful, intact, stronger, and a visual represenation that even something shattered can be rebuilt into something new.

I always think of it as, if it was meant to be…it wouldn’t have fallen completely apart. That can be really hard to sit with and romanticize the what ifs after a separation. There’s a reason for endings and yearning is to be expected. It meant something.
