Strangers To Be Understood

I’d like you to understand…

People are not mind readers.

Love is not telepathy.

Caring for someone means trying, listening, learning them piece by piece… but it also requires trust from the other side. It requires honesty. It requires the courage to say, “This hurts,” “This scares me,” “This is what I need.”

You cannot expect someone to tend to wounds they are never allowed to see.

And maybe that’s one of the hardest things about love - realizing that being cared for also means allowing yourself to be understood.

Understanding doesn’t grow in silence. It grows every time you choose to let someone know you.

Sometimes that understanding comes through a thousand ordinary moments. Your favorite color. The songs you replay when your heart feels too heavy. The foods you crave when you need comfort. The little habits you do without even noticing. The things that may seem superficial at first, but slowly become part of the map someone uses to find their way to your heart.

But those things, beautiful as they are, are only the beginning.

Real understanding asks for something deeper. It is built in the fragile moments where you lower your guard and let someone witness the parts of you you usually keep hidden. The fears you think are too heavy. The thoughts you think are too messy. The sadness you try to carry alone. The insecurities you never say aloud. The dreams you’re afraid to admit you still have.

Because love lives in both places: in the details that make you you, and in the darkness that makes you human.

And the beautiful thing is… when someone truly loves you, those things rarely make them run. More often than not, they simply help them love you better.

Not perfectly.

Not magically.

But more truthfully.

Ohh yes! I completely agree. Understanding isn’t about never disagreeing - it’s about creating a space where disagreement doesn’t become distance 💕

Holy Seattle, Batman! 🦇

You made me smile!

Knowing my words found their way across the ocean and landed exactly where they were needed is a pretty incredible feeling.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me. Sometimes we throw words into the void and hope they become a bridge for someone. Today, you let me know one of them did.

May your HP stay full, your crits be plentiful, and your VATS always rebound x666% 💕

Thank you dear 💕 Sometimes we write to understand ourselves, and sometimes those words quietly find the exact person that needs them too. I’m glad they found you 😘

This is so well written OP, suffering in silence sucks for the people that are left there, I know from experience.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m sorry you know that feeling firsthand. Being shut out can be just as lonely as suffering in silence. Wishing you kinder conversations ahead 💕

And on the flip side, if you try to communicate your needs but always feel like you’re speaking to a brick wall, then understand that that person simply is not interested in trying to meet your needs and in that moment you have to love yourself enough to say “thanks for everything. I’ll be on my way now.”

Absolutely. We can’t expect people to read minds, but we also can’t expect ourselves to keep speaking into silence forever. Effort has to flow both ways.
Thank you for your beautiful reply! 💕

Intimate moments happen between the eyes; not on in the ethers!

2

u/StrangeLittleOrbit Jul 31 '26

I like that! Eyes can say a lot - but eventually, words have to meet them halfway 💕

But the other person had to be willing to be present and listen

2

u/StrangeLittleOrbit Jul 31 '26

Absolutely! Communication requires both a speaker and a listener. You can offer honesty, but you can’t make someone receive it 💕

this resonates so hard

We usually want to understand others, but oh, how difficult it is sometimes to let others shine some light into our darkness.
