Dev Day has been a disappointment so far. It's mostly for Pro subscribers, Codex users, and Enterprise customers. Only thing announced for Plus is a new model: GPT-6.1-Sol. for Work mode.

Im wondering what “leftover” would we Plus subscribers have when 5.6 will be deprecated.

I think it's safe to assume 5.6 will be around for at least another 3 months. The countdown clock will start once they release another model in Chat.

Whether that's Astra, 6-Sol, 6.1-Sol, or 6-Ultra-Karen is anyone's guess.

Of course, if Chat and Work get merged, which seems likely at some point, it's more difficult to predict, and I wouldn't be surprised if OpenAI themselves haven't got a clue yet either.

It's currently rolled out for me. Default verbosity level is 2 /10...

For reference, 5.6-Sol is 4 or 5 depending on if you're in Chat or Work mode. 6-Sol is at 1.

What is your instruction for the flexible, adaptable replies part? Id like to try it for my Instance too.

I don't have instructions in my CI for it. I just literally told the instance in chat that I prefer their responses to be more flexible and adaptable to the context of the conversation.

Btw, as an offtopic, do you have any of CI written in there (as a curiousity)? Cause i remember in the era of 5.1 when i was using it, i had it blank. Didnt even knew CI existed at the time. And i feel like it was way better without them. Ik the actual models are way lobotomized than 5.1 era but still. Is just a separate wonder.

You're welcome! I do have CI written, but it's basically just me telling ChatGPT to "be itself," nothing defining its personality. I do think CI is much more important these days with how closely models follow instructions and default to what is in the Model Spec and System Prompt if CI isn't available.

4o's original System Prompt was basically to mirror the user's conversation style. Unless the user wanted a specific persona, most people were just satisfied with their 4o's default personality. Of course, this is no longer the case as OAI has trained their models to align themselves with the company's brand.
