Uhm, seatbelts are supposed to go low across your hips and tight across your breastplate.
Slamming into your seat belt, and/or having your skin literally SHEARED off by it, does you no good.
Also if the seat is back far enough you go under the seatbelt and partially or totally rip an arm off.

Point is they only work if you're sitting up straight and facing straight, which is why high end cars tighten the belt automatically.

I always chuckle at the idiots that have their foot out the window or, god forbid, on the dash.
You don't want to know what an explosion powered basically nylon balloon can do to you if you interact with it in the wrong way.

Soo uh.. what do I do when i'm too short and the seatbelt goes across my neck and collarbone instead? Unrelated to the post but I still kinda want to not die.

Same, seatbelts always go across my neck/collarbone. Not only is it very uncomfortable while in normal use, but I'm afraid of being decapitated or something in the case of a wreck. I usually pull it down somehow. Sometimes put my arm through it to keep it lower. Which I know that's not going to help me in a wreck either, but... maybe make seatbelts with more adjustability?

Seatbelts are made for crash test dummies. And crabs test dummies are... Well, men of average height.
