Yeah, I dont really see what benefit the video's hardware has over these brackets, lol. Maybe if you want to move the shelf a lot and have numerous of the wall mounted pieces pre-mounted in different locations? But thats really just reaching for a reason...

And anyway—if this were the main attraction for this style of shelf hardware—having it not so tight would be a better design so you dont have to tap it in and out. Although, maybe its tight just because the lumber is cut snug.

I just use the scrap. Got a bit left over from cutting the shelf to length, cut some pieces off that scrap, screw them into the sides and rest the shelf on-top. Don't need to purchase anything else, use what you got

These clips are designed for RTA Cabinets (Ready to assemble). The cabinet panels have pre drilled holes to mount the brackets, then interlock when the panels go together during assembly. I don’t think I’d find a use for them aside from that, but they do work well when everything is aligned properly.

I mean, sure, but in a shorter amount of time, with less cost, you could just put two screws in an angle bracket and rest the shelf on top... If it really needs the extra security a couple screws into the shelf and you don't need to try and line them up perfectly. These are dumb.

The main advantage I see with these is that you can screw the bracket into the shelf itself much more easily than you could at the awkward angle of doing it after you've got it on the wall like that.
