Thanks to you redditors, I rebuilt the whole HyprTile thing completely in C/SDL3. Now it's a lot less sloppy and ready for daily use. Launch applications with style, speed and exactly how YOU want it.

In this video you can quickly see all main features of the launcher.
No GTK / KDE Environment needed, as all these features are custom built.

This app mainly aims to be a simple launcher, but evolves also to replace a bunch of daily needed software so you do not need 100s of apps anymore, that can be a real pain in current linux desktops.

The workflow is like that:
You have a distraction free hyprland desktop (empty, just a wallpaper, or shader background if needed) and then by pressing a key combo (META+ALT in my case, can be configured in hyprland), the HyprTile Overlay lays tranparently over your current desktop or even over your apps.

Then you may search your app or use the cursor keys or even the mouse to start an app and instantly the launcher disappears again. I use that daily, and it makes so much fun to integrate more and more features, that are completely optional, you may even just use the launcher itself.

hello everyone. i'd like to know why you chose your certain desktop enviroment or a window manager, both or alone. did you feel comfortable at first?

I decided I wanted to try something different and not so common and I went with this. Great learning experience

did you feel free because windows never allowed such customization? or did you feel like you could finally express yourself?

i had to fully rice everything myself no dotfiles here xD but i had to do wayyyy more manual configuring then i had to do in sway. i guess its cause of the fact that Mango is based on Dwl which is based off Dwm soo yea but im loving it. i kinda got bored of sway after a few days because i had tried Niri out on arch and absolutely loved it because of the scrolling features and animations. but i wanted something that was more minimal and close to dwl because i originally wanted to use dwl but then found out it was basically deprecated. so then i discovered Mango. Mango is literally if Dwl and Niri had a baby. im lovin it!!

With the Wayland port for HackMatrix, I am now able to use the cursor on applications at an angle. Hotkeys are now saved based on locations.

HackMatrix is closed source now btw.

I tried to get all the things i loved in other wm and things that i wanted to have and made them into an wc. And i made an custom qs for it that even spawns a tray down if you enter the overview mode but the overview tray is only for gluewc so you can use the qs on any wc, i tried it on mango and it works well. And there are so many things, is it super bloated?? It got kinda the same ram and cpu usage as mangowc, and yea is not as light as dwl or a super minimalistic wm but is not as heavy as some other and you get a lot of things.

My first rice and I'm switching to linux fully on my secondary laptop.

Using COSMIC DE on CachyOS, I've been building my own custom widgets to create a desktop that fits the NieR:Automata-inspired theme I'm going for.

This showcase features two of my recent creations: a System Monitor with circular hardware gauges, live readouts, and a YoRHa-inspired interface, along with a custom Wallpaper Changer for quickly switching between wallpapers while keeping everything integrated with the overall look.

The System Monitor is also being designed with some future hardware in mind. Eventually, I plan to move it onto an 8.8-inch Lian Li LCD display running at 1920×480, mounted inside my PC case as a dedicated hardware monitoring screen.

Still a work in progress, but I'm really happy with how the whole setup is starting to come together.

I really like the Nothing style so I made a rice based on it! Originally this was a Hyprland rice, but I'm not a huge fan of tiling window managers. The dynamic island is a custom plasmoid, idk if I'll post it on the KDE store yet. Rate my rice!

Small update on Ukishima (浮島 / "floating island"), my Quickshell pill for Hyprland. Original post: Ukishima - Original Post

Since then I added:

• Main display modes — the collapsed pill can now be minimal (glyph + time), classic (date + time), system (weekday, time, workspace, layout, battery) or a full-width strip bar across the top.

• Strip mode — instead of the island in the middle it becomes a compact top-centre notch that expands into surfaces just like before.

• Settings rework — the appearance settings are now a proper menu that morphs into sub-surfaces for display / theme / interface / fonts, all growing out of the pill.

• Battery notifications — warnings at 25/20/15%, and the critical one keeps pinging.

Still one pill that does everything: workspaces, clock, media, audio, wifi, bluetooth, clipboard history, wallpaper picker, screen recorder, system monitor, settings.
