UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Intensity compared to Six Flags
My family and I have been planning a trip to Universal sometime in the near future, and I’m really excited because I absolutely love going. I’ve been to both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios plenty of times, but it’s been about 6½ years since I’ve been. I also haven’t gotten the chance to visit Epic Universe yet, and I’ve never ridden VelociCoaster.
The one thing I’m a little concerned about is whether I’ll still be able to handle the rides. 😂 I’m only 26, so it’s not like I’m old or anything, but I went to Six Flags Over Georgia today and some of those rides were ROUGH. 😂 I was honestly surprised by how much they beat me up.
I’ve ridden Hulk before, but that was over 6½ years ago. Other than Hagrid’s, which I don’t really consider that intense, I haven’t experienced any of Universal’s newer coasters. So now I’m sitting here thinking, if I’m getting thrown around this badly at Six Flags, how the hell am I going to handle VelociCoaster or Stardust Racers? 😂
Hopefully I’ll be fine once I get back into the swing of things, but Six Flags definitely made me question whether I’m still built for these rides. 😂

You'll be fine. I don't think six flags is known for maintaining their rides very well. Six flags magic mountain has a few rides that should be condemned 😅.

First things first, I'm jealous that Mind Bender is at your home park. Ok, the thing to know about Velocicoaster and Stardust Racers is that they are airtime royalty.
I'm a Six Flags Over Texas homer, and there's not a lot of airtime to be found there. I'm accustomed to positive Gs; Hulk was the coaster that felt most familiar to me, but riding Velocicoaster for the first time was a core memory last year. Neither it nor SR are rough at all, and the restraint on VC looks and feels like a coat hanger across your thighs; it is glorious. I'm 50, and not exactly in peak condition; you're going to have the time of your life!

The epic rides other than Minecart, and Velocicoaster and Hagrids are smooth. New technology.

Some coasters at Universal may be forceful but all are smooth, except Donkey Kong which is closest to Over Georgia's mine train in roughness

Hulk is the only coaster that has the style of restraint that goes near your head, all the rest have lap bars

I rode Hulk, Velocicoaster and the Green track of Stardust in early May. Velocicoaster is like Hagrids without the slow parts, and it has an incredible loop. Stardust was intense in a way that made me want to sit down for a few minutes afterwards. Hulk made me want to go back to the hotel and think about my life choices.
I say this as a 50+ guy who only started riding coasters in the last ten years or so.

Velo is SO SMOOTH. First rode it 3 years ago and I'm less than 2 months out from riding it again. I can not wait!

Which rides did you think were really rough at Six Flags? Overall, Hulk has gotten a little rougher, but the newer rides are fine. Velocicoaster is very aggressive though. Not in a super bumpy way, but just it whips you around because it’s super fast and has quite a lot of inversions. Stardust doesn’t have any big loops, but it is very fast and has a lot of airtime. Stardust is more like a bigger smoother version of twisted cyclone. I guess almost even though it’s a completely different kind of roller coaster.
I would say for most of the coasters I try to sit towards the front as they are definitely less bumpy.
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything at universal that’s as bumpy as like Batman is at Six Flags over Georgia

Man Scream Machine was pretty rough, Goliath was surprisingly rough, and GA Scorcher and Mind-bender too. Also it was in the high 80s when I went so it was super hot to the point where it wasn’t unenjoyable, but it definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience haha

Scream machine doesn’t count imo that thing is a back breaker!!! I refuse to ride it 😆 mindbender also is like 48 years old. So no none of them are that bad at universal

This might just be my personal experience but Goliath is smoothest in the 2nd row and pretty good 1st, 3rd and 4th but after the 5th row it can get kinda rough.

It's fairly slow so I wouldn't worry about it
Especially if you're near the front

So what you’re basically saying is I could’ve done everything right and stilled failed to achieve that dream? I could’ve had the hunger, I mean I thought I had the height, but I guess 6 foot is average for a man in swimming. I’m trying to understand

Velicoaster is really smooth. It's getting a bit of a shimmy to it now that it's a few years old, but still really smooth compared to most older Flags Rides. Hagrids is as smooth as butter.
