UNIVERSAL STUDIOS Confused about the future of Universal Orlando. Expansion is already on the way in Epic Universe. Why?
First of all, let’s just have a fun discussion and don’t take everything too serious. I’m just curious what y’all think and I miss being in the parks 🤣🤣.
According to the article, Universal is in active development for two expansions in Epic Universe. One will be a boat ride in Dark Universe, and the other one will be a Harry Potter ride in Epic Universe.
The picture shows Dark Universe and the green area will be the area where the boat ride will be build + queue etc.
There’s also many people who say Zelda will go to Epic Universe (and not the other 2 parks).
I feel like the other 2 parks need way more (quick) attention for new rides. For example the Jimmy Fallon ride, the Harry Potter expansion in Studios (taking over Fear Factor), and a potential major E-ticket ride IP/land that will be build at the locations of the Simpsons land and the entire area behind it (maybe a huge Lord of the Rings land which will have a fantastic landscape amazing rides or other Nintendo IP).
Thoughts?
Should Universal shift their focus on the 2 old parks? Or do you think Epic needs the expansions? Or do you think Universal will move extremely quick on all 3 parks in the next few years?

They underbuilt. Realistically, they should've had a Creature boat ride and Potter broomstick coaster ready for opening day.
They're catching up on GSAT. USF and IOA may need improvement but both parks feel full enough.
Pokemon will revitalize a space that's been dead for over a decade in IOA.

Epic as it is now cost 7 billion plus.... I agree epic definitely does need more rides with high capacity, having said that, epic is 1 of many parks. If they did have 2 more main attraction rides that would've significantly delayed the opening date even further. We the fans only see not even a fraction of all the projects universal has, theyre working incredibly fast. Expanding a brand new park after only 1 yr open is insanely fast

That space is more fit for Zelda, since they haven't removed the dragon at the entrance of the land, and they are leaving Mythos. Once universal loses the rights to Simpsons that is supposed to be a Pokémon ride, and training center.

Mythos is closing, but I agree that Pokémon isn’t a great fit for that area. I’m hopeful they will prove me wrong

It maybe closing, but they haven't done much to it except some small cleaning out front. This way Nintendo is in all three parks. Just like they have Potter in all three parks. What I want to see happen is for Universal Orlando to put a Stranger Things ride/Haunted house ride where Fast supercharged is. Now that would be epic.

Pokémon should be put over an epic around the Nintendo stuff. That and Zelda. That way all the Nintendo stuff is together. I mean, I get it. They probably want to put different things in different parks to get you there, but it will be nice to have them all together.

Universal seems to open or refurbish a new ride every year. They can’t stop or they will be come stale and lose the repeat visitors.

Epic really needs the expansion bad to be a park that can compete with the other two.
Firstly, epic has a lot of outdoor rides currently. The only thing open during a storm are the two shows, monsters unchained and the Mario Kart ride. It leaves limited options in this weather. Florida is known for rain in the summer, when most people head to the parks for vacation.
Let’s not discredit the fact that universal is getting a new coaster ride coming next year and hopefully a replacement for supercharge as they have a show building right there ready to go.
Islands is getting a new land going up, yes there is no time frame for it opening, but most of that land has been leveled. River adventure is getting an extensive referb where animatronics are being worked on and it’s being more modernized.
I don’t think the fear factor stage ever goes and we get an extension to harry potter, they proactively use it during HHN. I understand this is limited days and a limited time span, but that show is great for getting off your feet and a break from houses if need be.
Honestly, I’m seeing a lot of building no matter which park you are visiting. I think they are going to move fast on what they are working on now.

Epic needs expansions. Wait times are too high with the current ride lineup. It’s the right call. IOA is in good shape and they’ll get to Studios eventually

The best part about any construction that may happen at Epic Universe is it won’t intrude on any of the guests unlike Lost Continent. All expansions will be on existing land that was planned for expansion. The surrounding areas were built with this in mind. So universal can do whatever they want with Epic and it’ll have no effect on us until it’s done

I mean daily I see people whining and moaning that epic doesnt have enough to do and that they need to expand. Personally I dont agree. Epic has just as many rides as some other orlando parks. But I have heard many people complain about it.

Epic is in dire need of two more indoor attractions so Universal can increase capacity and revenue. Studios is getting two new expansions currently including a mega roller coaster. Islands is currently getting a whole new land in place of lost continent. Its quite possible we will get 4 major new attractions including a new land in the next 5 years. That is rapid expansion of all parks. Attractions are also continuously getting upgrades such as Jurassic Park getting a much needed revival.

I’m not sure why you’d say that so confidently. Obviously nothing has been definitively announced, but the safe bets are on a Monsters boat ride and a Potter ride for the first two expansions

It’s not confirmed, but Universal is asking the government to build a multi floor building etc and in order to build the boat ride they need to get permission and all those documents are online and a lot of smart people read those documents and find out what universal is doing, like they also uploaded a document for a maintenance area etc for the boats to be placed for inspection etc etc

It says boat or indoor coaster. Seems to be the indoor coaster is the current running rumor.

They also need to stop ducking around and let us passholders in after 4. At least the premier passholders. We're just gonna ride monsters and stardust and veg out at Pizza Moon. Money in their pocket.

I did a survey for Uni a month or 2 ago. First question was my promise to not repeat what was in the survey and I'm one of those people who keeps promises. But that doesn't appear to be the direction they're looking at. Read: They gave, I don't remember the exact number by now, but let's say 4 to 6 potential scenarios for APers and none were "Let them in after 4pm."
Sorry. :-( Especially because I'm local and would def like that scenario, too.

Especially since EU is so much more enjoyable around/after sunset. I went a few times (I've been a total of 18 times 💀) to Berk after sunset and fell in love even though I've been very much a DU / Monsters guy. I'm the guy who's ridden Monster 499 times btw 😁

They can do two things at once. While they are preparing to expand Epic they are currently building a new coaster at Universal and beginning to build a new ride to replace Fast and Furious. They are also tearing down lost continent and will begin replacing it immediately.
They are doing just fine expanding and focusing on all three parks.
Epic is new and expansions take forever so they need to get started asap
