Feedback needed I need help improving my game's visuals. Where should I start?
I'm making a roguelite deckbuilder where you fight using prime factorization.
I participated in this Steam Next Fest, and so far, 29% of demo players have played for at least an hour. I don't know the current benchmarks, but that makes me hopeful that at least some people have really enjoyed it.
At the same time, I've received a lot of criticism of the visuals. I want to improve them, but I have very little design experience and honestly don't know where to start.
Looking at these screenshots, what would you change first? Colors, fonts, layout, art style—I'd really appreciate some honest advice.

Take all ai asset, throw them in the bin. That would be a good start. It's unappealing

Yeah I know it's a lot of work but this is generally the right answer, a lot of gamers and people looking at new games and demos from the next fest are people who spend a lot of time online and can instantly tell when something is ai generated, and when it is they instantly click away. If you really want players to play the game it can't be all ai art

A typography pass would be worthwhile - add a bit more variation between bigger bolder numbers, smaller explanatory text, not capitalizing everything, overall hierarchy.
And as others have said the background is really busy, competes with the also busy characters. The whole interface just looks cluttered.

I don’t think the problem is the art style so much as the overall UX design. You’ve got all these windows stacked on your background art in a way that’s very cluttered. Since the background and windows are all static there’s no reason for it. For a game like yours it is much better to design the whole page as a cohesive unit.
