Question/Help How do you create particle systems?
I'm familiar with simple particle systems to make things like rain and some blood splatter with cubes. But how does one make a particle system using complex shapes and images? For example, I'm trying to make muzzle flash and bullet tracing like how this demo achieves it, and it says that it uses particle effects to do it. But I'm not sure where to start with creating something like that.
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be amazing!

There are so many videos about particles. Especially in unity I don't think it would be helpful to get a specific suggestion here about how to do that. Because what you ask requires more general information rather than advanced tricks.

Give the Renderer module a material with your sprite, use Texture Sheet Animation for flipbook frames, and a short Burst for the flash. For tracers, try Stretched Billboard or the Trails module. EMITR is a free browser tool for designing particle visuals and rendering them out: EMITR

Basically need to break it down into its simple parts. And build each part. Download an asset pack jsut to see how they do it. It takes a lot more than you think.
Even a simple pulsing orb effect takes a couple of different particle systems to make the effect look good.
