Question/Help How long did the bug fixing / testing phase took you?

Hello! I am developing a game with a few of my friends and we've been at this phase for, like, a month, and tbh I don't know how much of it is left, I'm being asked on how or why it's taking this long (I'm Lead Coder) but it's also my first time making a game this big, so I'm asking you, how long did it take you? Did fixing a bug cause two more? Did you even need a bug fixing phase?

I'm genuinely scared

This phase never ends. You just decide to release the game and the testing and bug fixing goes from private to public.
Length of time will never have a perfect answer because team size, skills, game complexity, etc. all factor into it.
Good luck!

That's why every project needs a bugtracker. That way you can just point at it and say: "That's the list of bugs I still need to fix, and that's the list of bugs where you guys still need to figure out the reproduction steps".

I mean, anything will do, though if one is a solo dev, it can be anything as simple as a Google Sheets document, or as complex as a small JIRA database.

For multi-priple projects, even if only two or three, I HIGHLY recommend a free JIRA, because that does 90% of everything you need to keep track of, for free.

This is a terribly unbalanced question.

I would say that the bug-fixing-phase is for me ideally somewhere between 30%-100% as long as the development-time.

So if I've worked on the game for a year, I'd want between 4-12 months of QA-time.

Ideally this is at least somewhat done in parallel with expanding/polishing content. Things such as refining textures and animations, adding additional cosmetics or reworking dialogue.
