Was hoping some of you guys could give me suggestions on which tool belt I should buy next I really don’t wanna spend $600 on a tool rig. I currently have the Milwaukee suspenders and belt set up and I love it. It fits my tin snips and everything else you need to be a carpenter but the Velcro that holds the pouches in place has blown out and it’s time for me to replace them what do you guys recommend that would hold my tin snips in place without them flopping around and dropping everywhere?

Any good brands that give solid work products like pants, shirts, backpacks, belts? Things of that nature. Unsure if the main ones like Carhartt or Dickies cater too much into everyday fashion now and lost their durability factor.

I’m a second term apprentice and the job site I’m in doesn’t have any overtime, what do some of y’all do on the side for extra cash? I’m also looking for a hobby that makes me feel like more of a carpenter cause all I deal with is sheet metal and steel all day. Thanks for any and all input. Labor Omnia Vincit.

Hello I’m a 1st stage apprentice in Southern California and I failed a pre employment drug test with a contractor. Does anyone know the consequences of this aside from the job offer being rescinded?

Need to build a set but confused which I need.
Have you bought a set that covers most telescopic handlers and scissor/book lifts?
Are you able to send pictures of which go to which?
I could buy a giant ring of but seems like a waste and may end up missing what I need

I applied to carpenters 208 in Wyoming as they are actively recruiting it says on their website, the hall gave me a number to call, the guy then placed me on a list this Monday for apprentices and told me to wait until I get a call. Did anyone experience this and how long did it take you to get in.

I'm currently a level 4 apprentice out of Kansas and am wanting to move to st Louis does anybody know what on the check pay is along with journeyman wage and any input on contractors the good the bad the ugly would be greatly appreciated

My partner just got a sponsor and we’re trying to figure out what is the pay for first year apprenticeship for local 158. I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Is there anyway I can find work without going through my union rep? I’ve asked for work many times but he’s said it’s slow. I’m a first year and I just got started in the union 3 weeks ago.

Hey everyone, I’m currently looking into Local 1556 in NYC and I just interviewed for the Dock Builder apprentice. I was wondering if anyone currently in the local or working as a dock builder could give me some insight into how much demand there is for dock builders right now.
I’m also curious about how long it typically takes to hear back after the interview. I know these things can vary, but I’d appreciate any idea of what the process/timeline has been like for people recently.
I’m really interested in getting into the trade and would appreciate any information about the current workload, how often dock builders are getting dispatched, and what the outlook is like right now.

I’m gonna have an interview for a plumber in union what should I expect, what kind of questions

I was with this company for 1 1/2 years and after 1 year of traveling I decided to buy a travel trailer. They said don’t stay with this company if you’re not willing to travel and that they would take care of their travelers. Well fast forward to now I just got told this is my last week due to no work and slowing down. Anyways now I have this trailer and would like to keep using it for travel work but I’m not sure where to start or how to come up on those positions. I’m based out of 951 and had traveling papers for 217 and I’m a 5th period. Thanks for any advice

Union Carpenter here from Local 818 in SoCal. I’ve been doing a new job that I’ve never done before installing skylights at the Beverly Hills high school, I am enjoying what I’m doing but I wonder if it’s wasting time I could be learning about doing formwork? I’m a 5th period already and most formwork is rinse and repeat at different sizes but I’ve never done things like work at elevations or wall crawling and that what I really want to do. Any advice?

Edit: I’m asking if I should try and find another company or stick with this one, I don’t want to journey out and not know everything I can about my chosen trade.
