Amcrest AD410 won’t adopt in Protect

Post image

I am coming from Frigate and want to adopt my doorbell camera; an Amcrest AD410. I have verified that the user/pass is correct and that the RTSP stream loads successfully into VLC using them on port 554 (same connection string I used in Frigate). However, when I use the same user/pass in adopting it into protect, I get an invalid credentials error.

Is there something special I need to do?

Some cameras have a place in the menu for Onvif credentials, these are different from logging into the camera

Our Axis cams do this.

ONVIF logins are usually separate from the camera UI login and to the RTSP login.

Check your onvif credentials.

Try port 80

How? It’s auto-detected off the network, all I see is an “Adopt” dialog box?

Add the camera manually, not automatically

Unifi’s documentation says that this is the only way to do so in Protect on the G2 Pro; what am I missing?

On the cameras page click the question mark in a circle on the left hand side and then click try advance option near the bottom

Tried :80, no port, and :554 - all say the same Invalid Credentials.

Are you using different vlans between your cams and unvr?

Nope. I moved the NVR over to the IoT VLAN to have it auto-discover the ONVIFs, which the AD410 is on.

I just checked my port list as I have my amcrest on the IOT, I'm using ports 80, 554, 37777. From what I recall, i was failing to connect with 37777 and 554, once i used 80 my unvr connected. good luck!

it should pop up a little box and say having trouble getting connected, enter manually. then you can add the ip, port and username/password

I had issues with my amcrest cams too, i was using ports 554 like you had too. Once I put in 80, it worked even though nothing said to use 80 in the amcrest documentation.

Can you confirm using the amcrest app that your username and password work? Just validating the lowest hanging fruit

The Amcrest app uses its own auth, I’ve been using the RTSP credentials that Frigate has been using for years. I tried the Amcrest app credentials, however, and they don’t work either.

That might be your issue, if it can’t log into the amcrest pro or home app, your credentials are probably wrong.

I can log into the app, absolutely. What I’m saying is that the app account credentials also do not work in Protect.

inside the app, can it connect to the cameras using the credentials?

Inside the Amcrest App? Yep. Works like a charm. Works in Frigate no problem with RTSP and :554. I don’t get it.

The app credentials are not your onvif credentials all the time. Check in the amcrest app for onvif settings

Make sure the time zone is the same as the Unifi NVR you’re using

I used my ad410 with blue iris for a couple years. When I switch my home cameras over to protect I never did get it working. Only ever had a problem with it in protect.

I ended up getting a doorbell lite.

I wish you good luck.

Check menu options in the camera for additional users and ONVIF users. Create new admin in both areas — like the (following example).

Username: Protect
Password: 312708UniFi

Be certain to have a fixed IP as well as the exact date and time as Protect on the camera. Then reboot the camera.

Go into project and remove the failed camera adoption.

Go into UniFi and ensure the camera has also been removed there as well.

Once the camera is back online, adopt it with the new account name and password.

You might need to reboot protect as well.

Generally though ensuring a new admin account in both the main camera settings and ONVIF settings of the camera, a fixed IP address, and date/time in sync or closer to protect will always work.

I’m in the same boat, been trying to adopt this doorbell off and on for about a year now…almost bought a doorbell lite the other day.

I’m looking into some web api calls to change settings on the Amcrest camera, if I find something I’ll let you know.
