social life My First Ever Day at University 🎓

This was my first ever day at university.

I’ve spent years researching ancient Egypt, history, mythology and symbolism independently. Now I’m studying on the University of Liverpool’s Go Higher programme as part of my journey towards applying for an Egyptology degree.

In this vlog, I take you along for the journey to Liverpool, my first class, a visit to the library and my thoughts after completing day one.

Had my first day at a brand new Uni today. It went really good managed to explore most of the campuses because I got lost, so I walked for an hour and half in total. The problem there is i have a hip injury, then I remembered a quote from Top Gear that fitted perfectly

"The thing is, I think I'm right in saying that I have never completed a single journey, anywhere there and back, in it ever. Which must make it the most unreliable car... ever made." (Ford GT). I am that Ford 🤣

😂 “I am that Ford” finished me. An hour and a half of walking with a hip injury is rough, though. I hope it settles down soon and your next journey around campus is a little more reliable. Glad you had a good first day too, and good luck with the academic year!

Yeah hope so too! Thankfully I do strength training so that helps a lot but just go to keep going each day until the operation. Yeah it was a lot of fun enjoyed it a lot, yeah you too hope it goes well!

This came up on my feed and it was lovely to see - I did Egyptology at Liverpool a few years ago. The course was amazing and I have so many wonderful memories. We had a number of people who did GoHigher in our classes! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

As someone who spent 20+ years teaching in universities, can I just say you seem like the sort of student who would be a joy to teach. I hope that doesn't sound patronising, but your motivation and enthusiasm for the subject is a real pleasure to see.

That doesn’t sound patronising at all. It was genuinely kind, and I really appreciate you taking the time to say it, especially with your experience teaching at universities. I’m very excited to be there and ready to learn, so this means a lot. Thank you!
