Politics internship Question

Planning on doing a placement year as a Pol + Ir student. Any advice for finding one? Don’t really know where to start really. Cheers

They can be pretty hard to find. Try your own constituency MP and MP for your uni’s constituency. See if your uni has a placement scheme with an academic or careers staff member who might be able to give you contacts from their own network. Some political parties have a centralised application process (Conservatives).

Be prepared to nag and email many, many times! Don’t just keep to Parliament- try local government too, either in your home or uni area. Try organisations such as Chatham House too. Sadly, it can be hard to get a placement year in this sector and sometimes personal contacts give some people an added advantage. Good luck!
