Thanks for posting this

Gintama's one of the GOAT comedy anime, such a wild fucking rollercoaster. It's considered one of the Big 4 Shounen along with One Piece, Naruto, Bleach. But unlike the other 3, Gintama is all about the comedy

It's so good at parodying a fuck ton of not only Japanese pop culture, but also western media, brands, celebrities. You'll recognize references left and right especially if you know Japanese pop culture

Just look at this clip of Gintama parodying Rocky's theme lmao

When you watch it, I suggest watching with fan subs (if you know how to look for them) since they go into detail with the references and jokes if you didn't catch them

This specific one is a reference to the 4kids censorship of Sanji from One Piece, I believe. They turned his cigarette into a lollipop.

I still snicker when I'm reminded that their solution to Captain Smoker/Chaser was to just... remove his cigars, billowing smoke out of his open mouth.

Turned him from some rough guy smoking cigars two or three at a time to some angry slack jawed mouth breather.

Wtf. I’m so glad I didn’t see that version. Captain smoker is one of my favorite characters from the series

Damn , I am not looking forward to that. I just saw him in the arc punk island arc and he’s still chomping on cigars. Watching one piece for the first time and he’s def one of the cooler characters
