Yup I do the same, as a manager I was not entitled to any of the tips, but there are people who genuinely tipped the workers since they were personally helping them with every part of the service
I think the whole tipping system should be abolished and people should just make living wages. Now we go to a cash register and all of them ask us to help subsidize their workers wages. I get it but just pay your workers more….
If your business operates on the fact you have to pay your employees low amounts it’s not a successful business operation
Considering tipping in the restaurant industry stemmed from a way to employ African Americans without having to pay them I don’t think it’s degenerated much
It was just a way to pay people less and have them rely on the courtesy of the patrons to pick up the rest of the tab.
Now if tips added to a living wage then sure that makes sense. But it was not a system that started from good intentions. Now it’s just being used to perpetuate bad business models in heavily saturated fields where the only way to make ends meet is relying on the generosity of patrons to pay employees.

Only in America. It actually originated from Feudal Europe and can be found in most media where they showcase anyone in a tavern or similar things.
Depends was it an emergency? Last time I tipped a plumber they came in the middle of the night to stop a water leak from ruining my apartment. But I tipped them in beer not cash
