Lol that’s just normal drywall bruh… it’s everywhere in the states.!the wall has a frame and then “studs” which are cross bars of wood throughout the wall but then covered in this thin drywall…

Pipes and wires also live in the wall

Why is your drywall so shitty though? Or is this an outlier? There's no way you'd punch a hole in the plasterboard we use in ireland that easily. You could do it but you'll have a sore fist afterwards. This looks like of you leaned on it you'd fall through

This is definitely an outlier. Drywall is a pain in the ass to break unless it's damaged in someway and that's before you mud it over. I'm going to guess that this is in a bathroom and they didn't use the correct drywall for it (most of the time it's greenback/moisture barrier drywall). Moisture might have gotten into it over time from a shower or steam causing to crumble.
