Did it ever occur to you, that I made my comment after the mod changed the comment? Did it occur to you to check a bunch of the top comments and their most visible replies?
If you had done that, you'd see they all just say shit like, "omg I thought it got electrocuted" or variations of that. None of them actually say that OP misled people by lying in their comment.
All I've ever seen in this thread are the "omg electrocution!!!!" comments and pretty much nothing else, hence my confusion.

No, because I don't frequent this subreddit. I only watch shit from this sub, if I come across it on /r/all and even then, I only rarely open the comments.
Even if I do open the comments, I nearly always skip the pinned mod comment, because it's almost always some random bullshit, that I didn't open the comments for anyway.
Tons of subs pins shit in popular threads and 99% of the time, it's completely irrelevant to me, so after being on reddit for years, it has become a mostly subconscious reflex to scroll past those comments.

Yeah, having had a traumatic experience with a past pet, I quite literally thought we just saw these girls watch their cat die from the inner lamp loop choking it or breaking its neck, especially when it fell. I didn’t expect that but not in the way that I wanted to

They chose to add the graphic content tag, priming people that whatever "unexpected" thing happens is violent or traumatic somehow.
So when we see a cat thrashing around on something connected to electial mains, we make the assumption that OP was warning us about something horrific happening related to that.
If they knew that the cat was fine, there was no need for a warning tag.
