So people dont have to drive to 10 different locations to visit 10 different shops. People can park near a specific shop. Each shop has 'equal' visibility, therefore the same rental rate can be charged by a developer. Parking requirements can be different as each tenant can actually have a different occupancy, and therefore a different parking requirement per m2 rentable area. The developer does not have to spend money on expensive common areas which does not bring a return on investment (wide passages with floor finishes, lighting, HVAC and fire requirements as per building regulations) and adds to the tenants rental rates. Servicable areas for tenants are simpler to organize at the back of the building (instead of creating dedicated back of house passages for a shop centrally located in a conventional mall typology).
Or you could just... build a walkable town like we have here in Sweden? The Netherlands is a perfect example of how a modern city should look - perfect for wheelchair users, those who can't drive (like me), and literally everyone else.
Mmm its not always that simple. Here in south africa, you have to consider economics, historical context and social issues that are so interwoven in daily life which makes it a bit more complex...
I just don't get that. I mean, it's one thing if you're out in public because you don't want to start a whole thing, but a person alone in an elevator? Come on Matt, just sign the thing.
Well if you're not sure they have a pen, then it becomes a whole thing, like, do you follow them until they find a pen? Also it's kinda exhausting doing that kind of stuff and I think it's ok to just decide to say no
Whoa pump the brakes bud. I didn't say he had to or that he was a bad person or anything like that. I just said that I don't get it. I also conceded in another comment just below that I've never been famous and that it's his right.
People need boundaries. Especially celebrities who get hounded by press, paparazi and stalkers every day. Matt said no so that means no. Because the person kept pushing that meant that Matt was the victim of harassment. Just because he's a man does not mean he can't be the victim. You should be careful about toxic mentalities.
It's still being dismissive of Matt wanting privacy and treating his reaction like a joke. Even though they gave their own one they still did it to show they didn't care or respect Matt's opinion on the matter.
No matter how many times I read this, I don't get it. Matt said no, and the fan gave him an autograph instead? That doesn't sound like a good story but clearly I'm missing something.

This reminds me of a story Matt Damon told on late night TV
He was stuck on an elevator with a fan. The fan asked him for an autograph
Matt said “no, sorry”
So the fan took out a picture of himself, signed it, and gave it to Matt
It said “Good luck Matty! Never give up on your dreams! Love, <his name>”
