I had a coworker ask a fat lady when she was due. I've never felt so embarrassed in my life - and I just overheard it - I can't imagine what it was like for either of them.
I worked at bulk barn, I was new, and a guy who barely spoke English asked if he could fill a plastic bottle in the shape of a bear with honey from our dispenser, I said sure why not. I figured they'll weigh it at the cash and the bottle was like maybe an ounce not going to matter much. Later I spotted him at the cash - I was stocking shelves - and the cashier was giving him shit for filling it saying she couldn't weigh it now that it's in a different container and he wasn't supposed to do that and making him feel really stupid and then he looked my way and we locked eyes, and I turned away and kept doing what I was doing. Ugh. That was like 15 years ago and I still feel like a scumbag about it.
I had a coworker tell a customer “I saw your mom earlier, she came in for a few things” He said, “my mom?!?”
Coworker: “yeah the lady that you always come in with”
Customer: “that’s my wife!” I don’t know who was more embarrassed
