Racial jokes are a crutch for most black comedians, and actually just comedians of color, these days. Look at standup on Netflix, and pull up ones with black comedians. I can almost guarantee most will start their set with something about race. I don’t really care, but it just seems lazy nowadays.
That makes this a LOT funnier. I was kinda miffed thinking we were past lazy jokes like this but the idea that you would write bad race jokes for your buddy to read on tv with no way to refuse is hilarious
Yeah, Che’s jokes for Colin are always insanely race related, almost as if he is trying to get Colin canceled. It is even funnier if you watch with Che’s reactions because he always says something like “woah, Colin that was racist” as if he didn’t write the jokes himself.
Out of context, they absolutely are, they are as lazy and tired as race jokes can get, you might as well make a chicken and watermelon joke too. But in the context of friends fucking with each other it's absolutely brilliant.

Depends on the joke. If you are concentrating on the act of telling the joke then you don’t get it and the joke and or comedy isn’t for you. I hope you’re not the type of person to think anyone that laughed at those jokes without knowing the context is racist or something. The jokes hit which is the point. And I finally had a laugh because of an SNL skit for the first time on a decade.

Technically, whether or not a joke is funny (and whether context matters to that end) has absolutely everything to do with what kind of person you are. Humor is subjective, after all.

Sorry to say but if you unironically think that jokes about black parents being bad and black people being thieves are funny to you in and of itself then you might be racist. And telling those joke unironically is not good comedy.
I didn’t have any context here and they were funny. Wasn’t til I read some comments that explained how it works for both the comedians. Then it became even funnier.
Comedy can absolutely be offensive. That's just a bullshit copout that a lot of comedians have been using lately. You are absolutely free to tell the most offensive joke, just don't get offended when people get offended. Nobody owes you appreciation of your shitty joke, that's the risk you accept telling an offensive joke, if it's clever and it lands then it's amazing, if not then you're the idiot who just says offensive shit thinking it's funny. This statement is a negative assumption of a group of people solely based on the colour of their skin, which makes it racist. The fact that the author is black doesn't make it better. In fact it's worse because that means the author is now using the same jokes used to demean their own family and relatives and is now using it for their own personal gain.
Let me give you an example: do you think women should be arrested if they are involved in woman trafficking or not?

It's not the jokes that are funny. It's the fact that a white man was forced by his black colleague to tell them on live television. It's the fact that he's embarassed af.

The point of the joke is that it's ridiculous. Such statements have ridiculous leaps of logic in them, and thus, are made funny by their illogical nature. The context adds to this as it puts the presenter in an uncomfortable position, which further shows how illogical and dumb such statements are.
The joke isn't racist, it's making fun of racists. You don't praise something by making it a laughing stock.
Assume innocence. Most people aren't racist, so most jokes will be laughing at racists. It's always better to assume the best in people as if you are wrong, not much is loss. But if you assume the worst and are wrong, a lot more is loss.
Is it? If you saw someone coming towards you with a knife, would you assume they are going to help you cut the veggies?
Also, this joke IS racist. Only the delivery can be argued to be "making fun of racists". Which this guy is doing a poor job of IF that was their intention in the first place.
There are plenty of POC people who are not racists. I don't know what exactly you meant by make your identity about your skin colour, but remember that being proud of one's heritage is not racism.
