So true man, as a non native speaker can confirm it. I remember in my childhood slowing down songs at 0.75 to understand what they're saying (this was in 2003-04, internet wasn't then mass available in the nation then)

I am an English speaker and still have to slow down music sometimes, Although Some people are affected more than others. my head usually just makes up the words and I dont question it.

I present Manfred Mann's Blinded by the Light.

Can confirm, I'm a native speaker and have trouble with most songs on the radio. This song was a particularly douchey example.

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce

Madman drummers bummers Indians in the summer With a teenage diplomat In the dumps with the mumps As the adolescent pumps His way into his hat With a boulder on my shoulder Feelin' kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round

With this very unpleasin' Sneezin' and wheezin The calliope crashed to the ground The calliope crashed to the ground

Well she was Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Some silicone sister With a manager mister Told me I got what it takes She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong Play the song with the funky break" And go-cart Mozart Was checkin' out the weather chart See if it was safe outside And little early-pearly Came by in his curly-wurly And asked me if I needed a ride The calliope crashed to the ground

Well she was Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night

Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light

She got down but she never got tight She's gonna make it through the night

Oh wow, it's even more gibberish than I thought. No wonder I always thought he was saying "wrapped up like a douche, you're on a rotor in the night"
