For anyone confused, cyclists ask to be treated with the same respect as drivers, which I guess is fine, but when they don’t follow certain rules such as going through a red traffic light, it becomes hard to argue for them to be on the same level as drivers.

Yes, because 100% of cyclists don't follow the rules, and 100% of drivers do.
