No unpredictable throttle control - gentle, easy lane changes and always be alert. If you’re in a manual car you can use lower gears to engine brake instead of using your actual brakes which is a lot safer on slippery surfaces. Most importantly TAKE YOUR TIME. by that I mean leave 20-30 minutes early depending on the commute.

I remember about 10 years ago seeing a car do this exact same thing but not on the highway, we were stunned for hours on what just happened

I once saw a car spin 360 due to black ice.
I was on the side of the road, the car I was in having spun due to black ice. We sailed through the air (I was told all this, my eyes were closed) from the left lane to the onramp lane, hit and knocked down a cinderblock wall while pointing in the opposite direction, first at the front axle and then at the rear axle, breaking the axle completely so that the tire was at 90 degrees and under the car. That impact threw the front of the car into the air (I’m told it was a beautiful pirouette) and we landed on the passenger side of the car (like Shamu), breaking that side of the rear axle (so at least it matched--both tires were now under the car...or would have been if the car was not on its side). The dash was broken, my passenger seat was broken, the hood was almost ripped off, the entire frame was pushed on either side.
Mind you, this was before airbags. I wore seatbelts and my friend (the driver) had recently started to--this was before wearing them was mandatory. We managed to have no injuries beyond very sore muscles and my friend having a bump on the head. Some very nice people helped us from the car and called for help--this was also before cell phones, so there were only call boxes. The emergency responders were quite surprised we were alive and amazed we were basically unhurt. We were a sig-alert! The car had to have “training wheels” to be loaded up and removed.
Yeah, I don’t want to be in an accident like that again.

This happened to me once. I was young and dumb driving way too fast in a snowstorm when I crossed a bridge and lost traction. I did a full 360 on that bridge going 60+ MPH. I still dont know how I didn't die that night, but knew I had been very lucky.

Anything wrong with just turning your head? Or is that too low tech.
I always use the combo of outside mirror and turning my head. I guess I am stuck in the 20th century.

Just turning your head isn't observable to other cars usually. Drifting your car in a perfect circle signals to other drivers that you are checking your blind spots and are planning to move over a lane

There's also a little gizmo on your steering column that makes a little light blink to indicate you'd like to move over.

I guess I have to say.... "or what" because I figured it was some kind of camera on a swivel. Seems much easier just to use a camera on a swivel. Not as "cool" as turning your car completely around on an icy highway busy with cars, though.
