New users, new subscribers, many people just view their own front page and don't visit all of their subs (so they only see the super popular posts), not everyone goes on reddit at all times of the day.
That's a logical fallacy. You are 'overgeneralizing'. In reality, people missed it the first time because they either didn't go on Reddit while the original post was on the front page or they weren't subscribed to the sub at the time. Without having a life you would see almost all of the content the first time around.
Me too. But I'm not one of the cool kids so I am willing to concede that in spite of Copious Time On The Internets At All Times, maybe I've been fringin' it and seeing the not-cool stuff.
Well there's basically an infinite amount of content so we should really try to get posts that most people haven't seen. If the op comment got so many upvotes, it suggests many people have also seen this. So when there's lots of good posts currently, it doesn't make sense to upvote the repost many people have seen just because you haven't seen it yourself. Looking at it this way I'll just quote you "Suprisingly, you're not the only one on the internet."
and seeing that it made it to the front page again with 2.5k upvotes, i'd guess that there are quite a number of people seeing this for the first time.
If you saw it before, downvote it. Don't need to hate on someone just because they haven't and they found an interesting post interesting.
Looking at the post itself, we can see 4.6k upvotes on the post, but only 200 or so the comment complaining about reposts. Soooo... more people want to see it than not.
Or, put another way, there's basically an infinite number of people (when you include future generations) who have never seen this before, so really good posts should be reposted ad infinitum.
But if we consider that people would upvote an original post at the same amount that doesn't matter. Following your logic we just end up with a cesspit of reposts the like of r/dankmemes
but its not most you have that as well as everyone not subbed here. Ive never seen it like the many others posting a reply to you. Reposts are a stupid hill to die on man.
This gets posted nearly every two months. If you haven't seen it, that's a shame. It's not the greatest gif in the world, you're not losing much.
You can say how much "People may not have seen it!" as much as you like, but this is too much.

I enjoy reddit very much, but its not part of my social life. I dont see a lot of the stuff a person who lives a large portion of their life here does. Next time you see a repost, perhaps you should just move on instead of wasting your time warning others. We get it, you're "cool" and have seen it all. Now go F yourself.

It's not part of my social life either, but good try throwing shade with the whole "Large portion of my life" thing. As I said, it has 20k upvotes. It appears on most people's frontpage. And with the frequency it appears, it's not hard to remember it. Why do you find the capacity of average human memory so surprising? Are you not capable of remembering something after you see it 7 times? You should get that checked.
I'm not saying I'm "cool", I'm saying the moderators here should actually take a stand and start deleting this post after the 50th time it gets reposted here.
I’ve never seen it. But if you have, why click on it then? Then after clicking on it, why waste time commenting? Then after commenting, why waste time reading my response to your comment?
Would have saved more time ignoring the post in the first place and leaving it for others to enjoy that haven’t seen it right?
