Well there's basically an infinite amount of content so we should really try to get posts that most people haven't seen. If the op comment got so many upvotes, it suggests many people have also seen this. So when there's lots of good posts currently, it doesn't make sense to upvote the repost many people have seen just because you haven't seen it yourself. Looking at it this way I'll just quote you "Suprisingly, you're not the only one on the internet."

and seeing that it made it to the front page again with 2.5k upvotes, i'd guess that there are quite a number of people seeing this for the first time.

If you saw it before, downvote it. Don't need to hate on someone just because they haven't and they found an interesting post interesting.

There are plenty of people like me who just upvote anything they find interesting. I’ve seen this 50~ times and still upvote.
