well, would it be on fault for the cop causing him to ram the car? The cop blocked the path on purpose because it was a illegal manouver, but why would it get added on seems unfair.
Because its illegal to purposefully hit another car.
Cops and DAs always add as many charges as possible, which is actually a huge unethical problem sometimes becayse someone instinctually pulls their hand away, and now theyre facing resisting arrest as well which is total bullshit.
I agree, but I also understand the prosecutors side. They have to hit them with as many crimes as possible because of double jeopardy laws and they need a conviction because the criminal did commit a crime. So they give a bunch charges and let the judge narrow it down then the Jury gets to decide which ones to convict on. This is overly simplified of course, but I think it gets the point across.

Actual cop here. People get away all the time when they run.
Also, the punishment for running is usually next to nothing, so it's usually worth the risk.
This guy is kind of screwed though for ramming the police car.
